lynxrchkit-sha Batteries
Keeping your monitored system powered on at all times is very important. That is why alarm systems come equipped with backup batteries. If the electricity goes out, your system will automatically switch over to its battery back up. For the Resideo LYNX Touch Panels, there are three battery backup options available. The LYNXRCHKIT-SHA represents the super high capacity option. It will keep the system powered on for a longer period of time than both the standard capacity and high capacity batteries.
The LYNXRCHKIT-SHA can be identified as a green battery pack that connects with the larger battery port on a LYNX Touch Alarm System. This is not the battery pack that comes with the LYNX Touch Systems. These systems come with the standard capacity battery. The LYNXRCHKIT-SHA is a good purchase if the original battery reaches its end of product life and can no longer hold a charge. It is also a good purchase if you just want to increase the battery life of your LYNX Touch System.
The LYNXRCHKIT-SHA is quite versatile, as it can work with any of the Honeywell LYNX Touch Panels. These include the LYNX Touch L5000, the LYNX Touch L5100, the LYNX Touch L5200, the LYNX Touch L5210 and the LYNX Touch L7000. The battery is also compatible with the LYNX Plus L3000. It is the highest capacity available for all the LYNX Series Alarm Control Panels. The battery pack consists of six (6) 3700mAhm, size 4.3 A, nickel-metal hydride batteries. The batteries are connected in a series.
When the system is running on AC power, the battery will be slowly storing a charge. This way it will be ready to take over if the power goes out. Then it will resume storing a charge once AC power is restored. Over time the LYNXRCHKIT-SHA will very slowly lose its ability to store a charge. At that point, the battery will need to be replaced with a new one. This usually happens after three (3) to five (5) years depending upon usage. You will know that the battery is at the end of its life because there will be a low-battery warning that won't clear even after 24 hours of running on AC power.
Please note that you should not use multiple batteries with your LYNX Touch System at any given time. Although these systems have two separate battery ports, trying to use multiple batteries can cause serious problems. The two batteries will drain too much power, and your system may display an AC loss condition as a result. Plus, you would be unable to close the panel. Even though there are separate ports for a standard/high capacity battery and a super high capacity battery, you should not attempt to use both at the same time.
