Subject:
6150 Panic Issue
Product:
6150 Keypads
July 2019
Dear Valued Resideo Customer:
The purpose of this communication is to alert you t
o a firmware anomaly Resideo has recently
detected in certain 6150 Keypads. Discovery of this
anomaly resulted in Resideo instituting a shipping
and manufacturing hold on the Keypads outlined belo
w on July 19, 2019. We would like to take this
opportunity to provide you with information relatin
g to this hold and identify actions to ensure prope
r
functionality.
The hold was instituted due to isolated reports (co
nfirmed through internal quality testing) that cert
ain
functionality on the 6150 keypad, manufactured duri
ng the period set forth below, will not properly
report. None of these reports have resulted in per
sonal injury or property damage, but our customers’
safety is paramount, as a result Resideo took speci
fic actions as outlined herein.
Resideo has isolated the cause to a firmware change
introduced in production of the 6150 Keypad on
April 17, 2019 (
date code C107
). All 6150 Keypads purchased between
April 18, 2019
and
July 19,
2019
(
date code C200
) may exhibit the anomaly. The impact of the chang
e is that when a 6150
Keypad is programmed to provide two button (1+*) an
d (3+#) functionality (typically used for Fire and
Police panic alerts) the keypad will not function a
s intended.
If you have programmed the 6150
Keypad with one button Fire or Panic alert and you
have not programmed two button
functionality, you will not experience the anomaly.
The impacted products were manufactured solely betw
een April 17, 2019 and July 19, 2019 and
sold between April 18, 2019 and July 19, 2019 with
the part numbers set forth below:
6150
6150PL2
6150ADT
V15PACK
V20PACK
V20PTISPKNA
To determine the date code of a 6150 Keypad, please
see attached Exhibit A.

Technical Notification #41
7/31/19
Prior Installations: If you have installed one of t
he affected Keypads, purchased between April 18,
2019 and July 19, 2019 and you have programmed the
(1+*, 3+#) combination keys to provide an
alert, please test each combination of the keys on
each keypad at each of your installations. If the
response is as intended, your keypad is not affecte
d and no further action is required. If the key
combinations do not work as expected, please replac
e the 6150 keypad with a 6150RF keypad and
return the affected product to your distributor for
a credit to your account. This replacement offer
will
be in effect through August 31, 2019.
It is a best practice and specifically suggested in
Resideo installation instructions that installers
test all
programming and sensors on all installations. In t
he case you have multiple keypads on the system,
we recommend that you test
ALL
keypads to ensure that the panic alerts are workin
g properly.
Resideo will implement a firmware revision for the
6150 Keypads before making them available for
sale. When this firmware fix is released for commer
cial sale, a communication will be sent to
customers before reverting from 6150RF to 6150 for
individual and consist-of kit purchases.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may have ca
used and appreciate your cooperation and
understanding while we resolve this issue. If you h
ave any questions or require further assistance,
please contact your local Sales District Manager or
Customer Service/Technical Support at 1-800-
645-7492.
Sincerely,
