Alarm.com Chair Sensor for Interlogix
Wellness Sensor w/ 319.5 MHz Transmitter
Description
The Alarm.com Chair Sensor lets you know if a loved one is sitting down in a chair or couch. This can be helpful if your loved one is elderly or mobility challenged. They may have sat down, and they are now unable to get up. You might go check on them if they haven't gotten up in awhile.
This occupancy chair sensor was specifically designed for use with the Alarm.com platform. Alarm.com even offers a new wellness platform that will provide you detailed information regarding sensor activity. You can receive alerts if your loved one has been sitting down for an extended period of time or if they haven't sat down in the chair at all today. Just remember that you will need a monitoring plan with access to Alarm.com. For Alarm Grid customers, a Gold or Platinum Level Plan is perfect for this. More information is available on our monitoring page.
You will need to make sure your system is compatible with this chair sensor before purchasing. This sensor operates at 319.5 MHz. This makes it compatible with most 319.5 MHz systems. Some examples of compatible systems are the Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus w/ 319.5 MHz Daughtercard and the Interlogix Simon Series Panels. When programming on an IQ Panel 2, you should use Sensor Group 25 - Local Safety Sensor. For an Interlogix Panel, choose Sensor Group 40 for a chimed response, or Sensor Group 27 for no chime.
The operation of this sensor is fairly simple. You place it on your loved one's favorite chair, and enroll it with a compatible security system. It is recommended that you place a cushion or blanket over the sensor for comfort. When your loved one sits down, the sensor will detect their weight. This will put the sensor in an "Occupied" state. When your loved one gets up, the sensor will enter a "Vacant" state. You can get text and/or email alerts from Alarm.com regarding any activity, and you can even configure what time of day these alerts can be sent.
The Alarm.com Chair Sensor is water-resistant in case of small spills. However, it should never be submerged in liquid. The sensor uses two (2) AAA batteries, and it has an average battery life of two (2) years. The detection pad should be placed flat underneath a cushion or blanket. It should not be left folded or bent. The dark blue side should be facing up. The transmitter is connected with the detection pad via an RJ9 cable. The sensor should be used within 100 feet of the security system. Do not machine wash the detection pad. The sensor will activate upon detecting 50 lbs or more. Make sure to test the sensor after installing and programming.
