Qolsys IQ4 Hub, AT&T LTE, Qolsys S-Line, Interlogix/GE
319.5 MHz Wireless Alarm Panel
Description
The Qolsys IQ4 Hub with an AT&T LTE cellular communicator and Qolsys S-Line and Interlogix/GE RF receiver is an affordable alternative to the Qolsys IQ Panel 4. With just a few hardware changes, Qolsys has created a cost-effective option that is still a feature-packed new system. The IQ4 Hub has the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Core SOM (System on a Module) processor as its more expensive big brother.
The AT&T LTE communicator that comes built into this panel provides reliable cellular communication that is lightning fast. Having a cellular communicator allows for remote control of the system, alarm communication to the central station, and end-user notification. AT&T LTE offers a ubiquitous network, covering most locations within the United States. LTE stands for Long Term Evolution, and cellular carriers have promised that this network will be supported for many years to come. If you happen to live in an area where AT&T LTE coverage is not adequate and Verizon LTE coverage is better, then check out the Verizon LTE version of this panel.
In addition to the AT&T LTE cellular communicator that's built-in, the IQ4 Hub also offers a dual-band WIFI communicator. For Alarm.com account holders WIFI is optional, whereas cellular communication is required when signing up for monitoring service. But with a WIFI connection, the IQ4 Hub becomes a dual-path alarm system, which is always recommended. Alarm.com treats dual-path systems a little differently than some other providers. When an Alarm.com system has dual-path communication enabled, all signals are sent via both paths at once. The signal that reaches Alarm.com first is processed and forwarded to the end user and/or the monitoring station (if a Full Monitoring Plan is being used). The signal received second by Alarm.com is discarded. In this way, Alarm.com ensures that the fastest available path is always used for each individual signal the alarm panel produces.
This particular IQ4 Hub supports the 319.5 MHz RF frequency. This RF frequency includes both the Qolsys and Interlogix/GE legacy RF sensors. In the Qolsys line, both non-encrypted and S-Line encrypted sensors are supported. Most Interlogix/GE sensors are also supported. The RF Compatibility Document for the IQ Panel 4 can also be used for the IQ4 Hub. If a particular sensor isn't listed in that document, it doesn't necessarily mean that it's not supported, but rather that it has not been thoroughly tested and certified to be compatible.
The IQ4 Hub supports Z-Wave Plus 800-Series for its automation platform. This latest advancement in Z-Wave technology offers yet another improvement to module battery life and transmitting range. By supporting Z-Wave, the IQ4 Hub adds the ability to control lights, locks, thermostats, garage doors, motorized shades, and other automation devices that use the Z-Wave protocol. As always, the IQ4 Hub's Z-Wave controller is backward compatible with all previous versions of the Z-Wave protocol. Just be aware of the limitations when you mix older and newer Z-Wave devices.
When you add Alarm.com to the Qolsys IQ4 Hub, you can take full advantage of the lifestyle enhancement opportunities offered by the panel. With the Alarm.com app or website, the user can remotely control the panel, arming and disarming, and creating scenes and rules to automate various functions. This includes automating actions for the panel and any Z-Wave devices that may be integrated with it. There are also many server-to-server integrations available through Alarm.com such as LiftMaster MyQ garage door integration, Ecobee and other brand thermostats, Rain Bird or Rachio Irrigation systems, Sonos, and more. With Alarm.com you can program your alarm system and other devices to work together to make your life easier.
The Qolsys IQ4 Hub supports the ability to view compatible Alarm.com video cameras on the panel's touchscreen. The 2-way communication feature that is available on some video cameras is not supported, however Live Answer for the Alarm.com video doorbells is still available. For this feature, the IQ4 Hub has one microphone and one speaker built-in. The panel also supports Bluetooth for touchless disarming and music streaming. The IQ4 Hub offers ease of installation with the SmartMount system, however, it is not compatible with the IQ Base.
