Leviton
Founded in 1906, Leviton was begun as a manufacturer of brass mantle tips for Manhattan's natural gas lighting infrastructure. From a pushcart in the lower east side, one of the company's founder, Isidor Leviton, sold a lampholder designed to work with Thomas Edison's electric lamp. The Leviton lampholders were very quickly used in every apartment in the Big Apple. Their success funded the building of a two square block factory and warehouse, which they built in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
Since then, Leviton has greatly expanded their offering, producing more than 25,000 different devices and systems used in businesses and homes all over the United States. Their longevity as a producer of electrical wiring equipment is a testament to their ability to meet the demands of an ever-changing world as well as their quality. As new forms of lighting have become available since the days of Edison, Leviton has pioneered numerous innovations, ensuring their continued success and relevancy. As lighting solutions such as fluorescent bulbs and now LEDs have begun to make their appearance, Leviton has proved a remarkable partner to consumers, ensuring that they can make the most of these energy efficient solutions.
As the largest privately held North American manufacturer of electrical wiring equipment, Leviton's commitment to quality is both well known and continues to fuel their success. On the consumer side their high-quality product lines include light sockets, receptacle switches and outlets, dimmers for incandescent lights, wall plates and more. Their VIZIA+ line of home automation products are unparalleled with regard to their quality. Alarm Grid is proud to feature those Leviton products that work with our home automation controllers.
