DESCRIPTION

Steel Door
Adapter
enables a
4191WH V
-PLEX Recessed
Reed
Contact to
be installed on a steel door or window. The adapter
provides non
-magnetic spacing between
the bod
y of the switch (magnet
)
and
the surrounding structure, to
reduce the
steel's effect on the operation
of the contact.


INSTALLATION

The adapter can be installed in
metal of 1/32" minimum thickness. Since
the structure of steel doors and windows varies, it is
difficult to predict the
maximum reliable gap for such installations. Experience has shown that a
3/8' gap between adapters (end-
to-end) is usually acceptable.


1. Drill a 3/4" diameter hole at the location selected for the adapter.

Allow
sufficient i
nside
clearance for the adapter, its contents (switch or
magnet portion
of the contact
) and
any wiring.


2. Insert the flange end of the switch or magnet into the adapter.

IMPORTANT: Press in firmly, all the way. Secure with a good
commercial glue or adhes
ive.

3. For the switch, route its wires through the hole and make
necessary
connections.
Insulate all splices.


4. Insert adapter into hole so that only its flange is visible.
If
necessary, secure with glue or adhesive.
