INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS
The Dimmer module is a Z‐Wave enabled device (interoperable, two‐way RF mesh networking
technology) and is fully compatible with any Z‐Wave™ enabled network. Every Z‐Wave enabled
device acts as a signal repeater. Multiple Z‐Wave devices result in more possible transmission
routes, helping to eliminate radio frequency dead spots.
Z‐Wave™ enabled devices displaying the Z‐Wave™ logo can be used with the Dimmer module
regardless of manufacturer. The Dimmer module sends a dimmer (ZL 7101) or On/Off (ZL 7201)
signal to the appliance that is attached to the Dimmer module.
By design, the Dimmer module does not interfere with the other power outlet when plugged into
the AC outlet. This module also acts as repeater (supporting FLiRS).
Adding the Dimmer Module
to the Z-Wave Network
1 To include the Dimmer module to a
network, put the Z‐Wave Interface
Controller into inclusion mode.
2 On the Dimmer module, hold the
Program button down until the Z‐
Wave™ Interface Controller “learns
in” the dimmer.
TIP: While adding (or learning‐in) the
Dimmer module, no more than one
meter should be between the Z‐Wave
Interface Controller and the Dimmer
module.
Removing the Dimmer module from a Z-Wave network
1 To remove the Dimmer module from a network, put the Z‐Wave™ Interface Controller into
exclusion mode.
2 On the Dimmer module, hold the Program button down to delete the dimmer from the Z‐
Wave Interface Controller.
TIP: The Program button is a toggle switch. If the light that is connected to the Dimmer
module is on, you can press the Program button to turn the light off, and vice versa.
Adjusting the brightness level
1 You can adjust the brightness level of the connected light using your controller or by pressing
and holding the Program button.
2 Release the Program button when the desired brightness level is attained.
TIP: This is a toggle function. The lighting will dim until the minimum level is attained or the
Program button is released. The next time that you press and hold the Program button,
the brightness level increases until the maximum level is attained or until you release the
Program button.
