Description

The 2GIG GCPK is a kit that includes the GC3 wireless alarm control panel with 3 x DW10-345 door/window contacts, a PIR1-345 motion detector, and a KEY2-345 RF key fob. If you want a cellular radio for your GC3 to be able to setup monitoring service with Alarm.com, you can choose between the CDMAV-A-GC3 which works on Verizon's CDMA network, the LTEV-A-GC3 which works on Verizon's LTE network or the 3GA-A-GC3 which works on AT&T's 3G network. There is WIFI built into the panel but it is not available with the current firmware. Alarm.com requires cellular communications for any interactive service anyways.

We do not recommend the 2GIG GC3PK-GC3 System Kit. This kit does not include an Alarm.com Communicator. As a result, you will not be able to activate it for monitoring service, unless you add a cellular module. The only reason to purchase this kit is if you already have an LTE cellular communicator for a GC3. Even then, you would usually be better off just purchasing a standalone GC3 System, which we sell for $259.99 at the time of this writing. You should only buy this kit if you already have a communicator, but you still need sensors.

Alarm Grid offers a very similar GC3 System Kit called the 2GIG GC3 Verizon-LTE 3-1 Kit that includes a Verizon LTE Communicator for monitoring service. Since you are going to need a communicator anyway, this is the most economical option if you are looking for a GC3 Kit. The 2GIG GC3 Verizon-LTE 3-1 Kit is available for $431.99 at the time of this review. Additionally, an AT&T LTE Communicator called the 2GIG LTEA-A-GC3 is expected to be available soon. Alarm Grid will most likely begin offering GC3 Kits based around this communicator once it is available.

It's worth mentioning that this pre-packaged GC3 Kit comes with a 2GIG KEY1-345 Key Fob, while the GC3 LTE Kits do not. This isn't really a big deal, as you can just control your system from your phone using Alarm.com once you have activated your system for monitoring service. Additionally, our LTE kits include a Honeywell LT-Cable for easy installation. This pre-packaged kit lacks an LT-Cable, so you will have to supply your own wiring. That's very inconvenient.

If that weren't enough, 2GIG is expected to release their 2GIG GC3e System sometime in Summer of 2019. You might just want to wait for that system to come out. You might also consider going with a Resideo Lyric Alarm System instead of a GC3. Most users find that the Lyric is easy to program. All things considered, the only reason to purchase this particular kit is if you are in the extremely niche situation of already owning a GC3 LTE Communicator, but you still need a GC3 System and sensors. That is why we cannot recommend this product.

As we mentioned before, many users considering a 2GIG GC3 ultimately decide to go with a Lyric Controller. We recommend reading our FAQ titled "Honeywell Lyric Security System vs 2GIG GC3".

Do you plan to get monitoring service and if so, would you want IP only monitoring at a lesser price (knowing that if your internet goes offline or becomes unavailable for any reason, you'd be offline) or would you want slightly higher priced monitoring that includes a cellular connection so that your internet going out wouldn't stop the service from working?
Which one would you recommend? Both have different prices but seemed the same.
They are both very similar systems, just made by different manufacturers. The Lyric is made by Honeywell and works with Honeywell's Total Connect 2.0 service for remote system control and alerts and the GC3 is made by 2Gig and works with Alarm.com service for remote control and alerts. Currently there are no encrypted sensors that work with the GC3, although 2Gig does plan to have them available at some point. The Lyric already has SiX Series (https://www.alarmgrid.com/browse/honeywell-six-sensors ) sensors that are encrypted to the Lyric system.
What is the difference between the lyric and this GC3?
No, you can't pair two GC3 on one system as each GC3 is an all-in-one system. Currently there are no options for a secondary touchscreen separate from the main GC3 but 2Gig will eventually release a wireless touchscreen keypad and in the mean time, you can use the PAD1 wireless keypad.
*one upstairs (misspelling)
Can you have two GC3's for one system. Like one downstairs and on upstairs?
Hi Karen, We're glad you found us. Unfortunately, we don't have any GC3 videos up yet as this system was just released. However, we have videos for the prior model GoControl panel and for the Honeywell LYNX Touch systems and the installation should be very similar so if you check those videos out, you should have a good idea of what the GC3 installation woudl be like.
Hi, I just found out about you guys on a site that reviews security system companies. This system looks like the easiest for me to install--I'm not great at DIY projects that involve tech. I couldn't find any videos on installation on your youtube channel though.
