2GIG LTEA-A-GC2
Alarm.com AT&T LTE Cellular Communicator for GC2 & GC2e
Description
Important Note: LTEA-A-GC2 communicators manufactured in late 2022 or early 2023 require the 2GIG GC2 to have firmware 1.19.4+ and the 2GIG GC2e to have firmware 1.24+. See this article for more information. The packaging for affected communicators should show the firmware version required.
The 2GIG LTEA-A-GC2 allows your 2GIG GC2 or 2GIG GC2e to communicate across the AT&T LTE Network and connect with the Alarm.com Servers. You will need an active alarm monitoring plan with cellular service to use this communicator. For Alarm Grid customers, this is a Gold Plan or higher.
A cellular communicator is perhaps the most important upgrade you can make for your alarm system. Cellular connectivity is extremely reliable, and LTE networks provide very fast speeds. This is the best way to ensure that your GC2 or GC2e System is monitored at all times and constantly connected with the Alarm.com Servers.
With the 2GIG LTEA-A-GC2, you can control your GC2 or GC2e System through Alarm.com. This an interactive service platform that can be accessed through a web browser or through the Alarm.com Mobile App on Android and iOS devices. By accessing Alarm.com, you can arm and disarm your system, check its current status, view the live feed for any programmed Alarm.com Cameras, control your Z-Wave smart home devices and more.
Please note that a 2GIG GC2 must be running Firmware Version 1.19.3 or higher to support the 2GIG LTEA-A-GC2, while a 2GIG GC2e requires Firmware Version 1.21 or higher. If you need to upgrade your firmware, you will need either an Update Cable or an Easy Updater Tool. You can also have the firmware update pushed down over-the-air (OTA) if your system is already active with Alarm.com. You would need to do this before replacing or deactivating the existing firmware. Alarm Grid has separate pages for GC2 Firmware and GC2e Firmware.
Upgrading to an LTE communicator is very important for GC2 and GC2e users. LTE stands for long-term evolution, and it provides faster and more reliable connectivity than the older 3G networks. Cellular service providers are in the process of shutting down their 3G networks. These companies have promised to support their LTE networks well into the distant future. By upgrading to LTE, you can rest assured that your GC2 or GC2e will stay monitored for many years to come.
We also offer a Verizon LTE Communicator for the GC2, which is available here.
Update: We have learned that the 2GIG AT&T LTE Communicators will "roam" to local cellular networks in Canada, including Bell, Telus, and Rogers. You will be able to use the 2GIG LTEA-A-GC2 in Canada, provided that you have adequate coverage from one of the aforementioned cellular networks.
