Description

If you need to power your Alarm.com ADC-VDB770 or ADC-VDB750 and you don't have existing wiring, or if the existing wiring is incompatible, then the Alarm.com ADC-VDBA-PSU-DC is for you. This is a plug-in DC power supply that will provide reliable power for the ADC-VDB770 Camera.

The Alarm.com ADC-VDBA-PSU-DC is rated at 16 Volts DC, 1.25 Amps, or 20 Watts. It is used when the ADC-VDB770 cannot be set up with an existing doorbell chime circuit for power. It should only be used when there is no wired chime used in the circuit. The power supply can be used with or without a power module. If a power module is used, then you will need a 10 Watt / 10 Ohm resistor. If no power module is being used, then a flameproof 5 Watt / 3.9 Ohm resistor is needed. You will also need to supply your own wiring.

The ADC-VDB750 does not require a resistor for installation without a chime. Configure the ADC-VDB750 chime type to the option to of no chime. Use the ADC-VDBA-PSU-DC to power it and you are all set.

For the ADC-VDB770, when the power module is not used, power will be running through the resistor at all times. This is why it is very important to use a flameproof resistor in this scenario. It is also important to be sure the resistor is thermally isolated from any flammable materials within the installation. Since both the power module and a 10 Watt / 10 Ohm resistor come with each ADC-VDB770, it is recommended that they both be used. Click here for information on installing an ADC-VDB770 using either existing power or the ADC-VDBA-PSU-DC power supply.

It is recommended that video doorbell installations use 18 AWG - 20 AWG wire. Using a smaller gauge wire, such as single-strand Cat-5, which is rated at 24 AWG, may not provide sufficient power to properly operate the doorbell camera. The Alarm.com ADC-VDBA-PSU-DC will usually be used in a situation where no existing chime wiring and hardware exist. In this scenario, the Alarm.com ADC-W115C Smart Chime can also be used to provide a doorbell chime sound. Multiple ADC-W115C Smart Chimes can be configured to work with each video doorbell on an account.
