Alarm.com XT-510-US-DP-VZ
Verizon LTE and Ethernet Dual-Path Communicator for Interlogix Simon Panels
Description
The Alarm.com XT-510-US-DP-VZ is a dual-path communicator with a Verizon LTE communicator that also supports a wired ethernet connection. In addition, it offers a Z-Wave Plus Home Automation Controller. With this module installed, an Interlogix Simon Panel can connect to Alarm.com and utilize its full suite of automation features.
With the Alarm.com XT-510-US-DP-VZ, as with all Alarm.com dual-path communicators, use of the LTE cellular portion of the communicator is mandatory, while use of the ethernet portion is optional. Most homes and businesses have an internet connection available, though, so it makes sense to take advantage of that existing communication path. Unlike with some other services, Alarm.com dual-path communicators send all alarm signals using all available paths. The signal that reaches Alarm.com first is accepted and processed, the "losing" signal is discarded. In this way, Alarm.com always ensures that the fastest available transmission path is used for each individual signal. For those customers in an area where AT&T may have better LTE signal, we also offer the Alarm.com XT-510-US-DP-AT Dual-Path AT&T LTE and Ethernet Communicator.
The Verizon LTE network will be around for years to come. LTE stands for Long Term Evolution, and cellular providers have indicated that they plan to support their LTE networks for at least the next ten (10) years. LTE provides a strong and stable connection, with cellular communication in general being very reliable. Cellular carriers provide plenty of power and signaling redundancies for their networks. LTE communicators are the fastest yet produced for use with alarm systems, and they allow users to take advantage of an ever increasing selection of remote control and automation features.
Alarm.com is the company who owns and maintains the servers used to transmit the panel's signals. Depending on the plan chosen, when an alarm or other event occurs on the panel, a signal is sent through the cellular and ethernet communicator (if used) to Alarm.com. When the server receives the fastest signal, it determines where it should be forwarded. If the signal is only supposed to be forwarded to the end-user, through text, email, or push notification, we call this Self-monitoring. When it is sent to only a central station, we call this central station monitoring. And when signals are forwarded to both the monitoring station and the end-user, we call this Full-monitoring.
When Self or Full monitoring is being used, in addition to the features mentioned above, Alarm.com also offers the customer the ability to check the status of their system, arm, disarm, and control automation devices associated with the system from an app or website. This can be done from any location where a connection to the internet exists. The Alarm.com XT-510-US-DP-VZ includes a Z-Wave Plus Home Automation Controller. This allows you to pair Z-Wave and Z-Wave Plus devices such as Lights, Locks, and Thermostats with the account. Once paired, these devices can be added to Rules and Scenes to activate or adjust automatically based on system events or schedules. These devices can also be controlled manually through the Alarm.com app or webpage, and there are many third-party integrations available from the Alarm.com site as well. Third-party integrations include things like Linear Garage Door integration, Ecobee Thermostats, Sonos, and many others.
Alarm Grid customers will need either a Cellular Alarm Monitoring plan, which includes only cellular central station monitoring, with no remote control or automation features, or a Gold or Platinum plan (Self or Full) which will allow them to use the remote features that are available, with or without central station monitoring. The Platinum plans include all the features of a Gold plan with the addition of video monitoring using any of Alarm.com's impressive lineup of residential and commercial cameras. The Alarm.com XT-510-US-DP-VZ gives you everything you need to bring your Interlogix Simon Panel into a new era of safety, security, and convenience.
