DSC AMX-400
Loop Repeater/Isolator Module
Description
The DSC AMX-400 Loop Repeater and Isolator Module is used to extend the acceptable wiring distance of devices in an addressable loop. The device also isolates addressable device. This limits the consequences of a short circuit. Up to four AMX-400 devices can be wired in a single loop.
The main task of the AMX-400 is to repeat and re-power the addressable loop. This will allow for longer runs between different devices. Meanwhile, the isolation feature of the AMX-400 can save the devices on a system if a short circuit were to occur. These features make the AMX-400 very important for many hardwired system setups.
The AMX-400 requires auxiliary power from either the control panel or from an independent source. Keep that in mind when planning to use an AMX-400. However, the device is particularly useful for when different devices in an addressable loop are not located within the standard recommended distance. The device provides an additional 170 mA of power when it is wired into the loop.
