DSC HS2ICNP
Hardwired Fixed English LCD Alarm Keypad w/ Prox. Tag Support for PowerSeries NEO
Description
If you need an additional wired keypad for a DSC PowerSeries NEO, then the DSC HS2ICNP is an option. The big highlight of the keypad over the even more basic DSC HS2ICN is that the HS2ICNP adds proximity tag support so that you can use a proximity tag device instead of entering system codes.
Typically, if you are setting up a DSC PowerSeries NEO Security System, you will want to add a keypad that includes a PowerG Transceiver so that you can begin using wireless sensors with the system. You should also make sure that this initial keypad is an Alphanumeric keypad so that the system can be programmed using it. Unfortunately, the DSC HS2ICNP does not meet either of those benchmarks, and it is not recommended as an initial system keypad. Instead, a good starter keypad for a DSC PowerSeries NEO Alarm System is a DSC HS2LCDRF9 N Keypad, as that keypad serves as a PowerG Transceiver, and is also an Alphanumeric Keypad.
However, if you already have at least one suitable starter keypad, and you are merely adding an additional keypad to a DSC PowerSeries NEO, then you might choose the DSC HS2ICNP. This is a relatively primitive keypad, and its most attractive feature is that it brings proximity tag support to the system. A proximity tag is a small hand-held device that you can hold up to the keypad to essentially confirm system authority, without needing to manually enter a code. Alarm Grid sells the DSC MPT Proximity Tags in an 8-pack on this page. Still lacking from this particular keypad though, is a PowerG Transceiver, so you will want to have another keypad on the system with that type of support if you plan to use wireless devices. Also, you really should have at least one keypad with an Alphanumeric display, as you will need one to program the system.
There are some other cool features built into the DSC HS2ICNP. The keypad has backlit keys, as well as a blue backlit LCD display. You will appreciate this when operating the keypad at night. There are also five (5) programmable function keys for the keypad, an input/output terminal, emergency keys for fire, medical, and panic, plus the ability to adjust the keypad backlight and buzzer. While this is still a fairly limited keypad with a Fixed English (ICON) display, it can still be quite handy in the right location. Do consider the fact that as an ICON keypad, it will be displaying the current system time. An LED provides the current status of the system.
