DSC HS2ICNRF9
Hardwired Fixed English LCD Alarm Keypad w/ PowerG Transceiver for PowerSeries NEO
Description
Those needing an extra hardwired keypad for a DSC PowerSeries NEO can consider the DSC HS2ICNRF9. The main attraction of this particular hardwired keypad is that it includes a built-in PowerG Transceiver, thereby allowing you to pair wireless PowerG Sensors with the security system.
The DSC HS2ICNRF9 is referred to as an ICON Keypad by DSC. This means that the keypad is Fixed English, with a limited display screen. For one, the keypad will show the current time instead of the current system status when it is left sitting idle. Though perhaps more importantly, the keypad is unsuitable for programming the system, as it will not show the full menu options available as you complete the programming process. For this reason, you should not have the DSC HS2ICNRF9 as the main keypad for programming a PowerSeries NEO System. You should add an Alphanumeric Keypad like the DSC HS2LCD N. The good news though is that the DSC HS2ICNRF9 can serve as the PowerG Transceiver for the system.
If you are only looking to buy one single keypad for your DSC PowerSeries NEO, then arguably your best single option is the DSC HS2LCDRF9 N Keypad. That keypad is Alphanumeric and it includes a built-in PowerG Transceiver. The keypad being Alphanumeric is extremely important, as that means it can be used to program the system. Really, you should only consider this DSC HS2ICNRF9 ICON Keypad if you already have an Alphanumeric Keypad, and you still need to add a PowerG Transceiver Module to the PowerSeries NEO Alarm System and would like to have a keypad in a secondary location as well. Also, you should note that the DSC HS2ICNRF9 lacks the ability to support proximity tag units. A proximity tag is a small hand-held device that can be placed up against the keypad to mimic the act of entering a valid user code. You cannot set up proximity tags with the DSC HS2ICNRF9.
Buyers of the DSC HS2ICNRF9 will be able to take advantage of some other nice features. These include backlit keys and a backlit blue LCD display screen, both of which come in handy when operating the keypad in the dark. Other features includes five (5) programmable function keys, an input/output terminal, emergency fire, panic, and medical keys, and the ability to adjust the keypad's backlight and buzzer. Don't forget that this is a Fixed English, or ICON, device, and it will display the current time instead of the system's current arming state. There is an LED light on the keypad that shows the system's current status instead.
