DSC MX862

The DSC MX862 is a smart addressable ceiling mount 360° motion detector. It is compatible with IQ Pro panels via the MX addressable loop. In order to use any of the DSC MX Series devices, including the MX862, the IQ Pro will need to have an HSM3105 module installed. The indoor MX862 boasts an impressive coverage area, event LED, and is tamper protected.

The HSM3105 module connects to the Qolsys IQ Pro panel via the Corbus. The MX862 then connects to two (2) MX loop wires that run off of the HSM3105 module. The MX862 mounts to a ceiling surface at a height of from 6.6' to 13.1' (2m to 4m) in height. It then provides 360° of coverage in a radius of 10.2' to 16.4' (3.1m to 5m) depending on the specific mounting height.

The MX862 uses a special algorithm to help prevent false alarms. They refer to it as The Advanced True Motion Recognition™ algorithm. As with nearly any passive infrared (PIR) detector, the MX862 should not be mounted in direct sunlight, near air ducts, heat sources, high voltage electrical wires, behind partial walls or barriers blocking its protection range, or on moveable surfaces.

Mount and wire the MX862 as well as any other MX addressable devices, before powering the panel up. Upon powering up, the auto-enrollment process begins. The device can be set up and configured with the IQ Installer app. It provides an option to adjust the alarm LED. Choose either LED OFF or LED ON during alarm events. Supervision is hardcoded and cannot be changed from 2.5 seconds per scan. If the device is not heard from for two (2) scanning cycles or five (5) seconds, then the panel will indicate a supervision trouble condition on the zone due to the motion not being seen.

The IQ PRO comes in many variations. It is available in a metal or a plastic enclosure. It comes with either a Verizon, AT&T, or Telus (Canada) Cellular LTE communicator. Along with support for PowerG wireless, the IQ Pro can also be purchased with optional support for various legacy wireless frequencies, including Qolsys and Interlogix 319.5 MHz sensors, Honeywell and 2GIG 345 MHz Sensors (unencrypted only), and DSC 433 MHz Sensors.
