Users needing an outdoor curtain motion detector have a great option with the DSC PG9902. As a curtain motion sensor, the device will detect movement across a specific area. The passive infrared (PIR) motion sensor is able to withstand the conditions associated with an outdoor environment.

Unlike a traditional motion sensor, a curtain motion sensor does not look for movement across an entire area. Instead, it focuses on a straight line in a very specific spot. With that in mind, these sensors are typically installed directly outside of doors or windows to monitor for entry. Activity that occurs elsewhere, such as in a yard or parking lot near the sensor, won't trigger a response. Only movement that occurs directly in front of the sensor in its line of sight will result in activation. The PG9902 in particular looks out from up to 26 feet away. All communication is sent using military-grade 128-bit AES encryption for enhanced security and protection. The sensor is virtually impossible to hack or takeover, making it one of the most secure wireless sensors available. It is also extremely easy to auto-enroll and program with a compatible security panel. Just put the system into its auto-enrollment mode and activate the enrollment function on the sensor.

The DSC PG9902 offers adjustable sensitivity and configurable pet immunity for small animals weighing up to 40 pounds. The sensor makes use of anti-masking technology to prevent others from disabling the detector. This is also done using its integrated front and back tamper switches. The sensor utilizes microprocessor-controlled temperature compensation and white light protection to ensure that it can detect movement in any environment. The device uses cross-direction detection (right and left) to respond to activity from either pathway. Make sure to test the sensor after installing. The sensor uses two (2) CR123A batteries for power. It has an average battery life of three (3) years.
