GRI M-7

The GRI M-7 is a surface-mount magnet that measures 1"L x 0.25"W x 0.25"D. It is used with a larger surface-mount sensor. The magnet is placed on the moving part of the door or window, and the sensor goes on the frame. The sensor and magnet should be properly aligned. Test after installing.

When using the GRI M-7 Magnet, there are a few things to keep in mind. You will want to make sure that the magnet is properly aligned with the sensor that it is being used with. Most sensors will have some marking or indentation for this purpose. Remember that the sensor has internal metal reed switch that will only remain closed when the sensor is nearby. When you open the door or window, you are separating the magnet from the sensor. This causes the reed switch inside the sensor to be released. The sensor then responds by alerting the system.

As the GRI M-7 Magnet measures 1"L x 0.25"W x 0.25"D, you will want to use it with a larger door and window contact sensor. For an aesthetically pleasing installation, the door and window sensor will normally be a little bit larger than the magnet. You need to test the sensor and magnet combination once the installation is complete. This is the best way to ensure that the system recognizes when the door is opened or closed.
