GRI MM-600

The GRI MM-600 is a rare Earth type magnet that measures 5/8" in diameter, and is 1/8" long. The magnet is best used with a recessed contact sensor with a matching 5/8" diameter. The magnet should go in the moving structure of the door or window. Test the sensor and magnet after installing.

The reason why rare Earth magnets like the MM-600 are frequently used with door and window contacts is due to their powerful magnetic strength. A stronger magnet will help ensure that the sensor knows when the door or window is closed. This is because the sensor's internal reed switch will remain in its non-faulted closed position. Once the door or window is opened, the magnet will separate from the sensor, and its internal reed switch will be released. The sensor will then know to alert the system to the open door or window.

You should use the GRI MM-600 with a recessed door or window contact measuring 3/8" in diameter. With its very short 1/8" profile, this contact is often used in windows where there isn't space for a longer magnet. The sensor and magnet must be aligned for proper results. Make sure to test after the installation is complete.
