Honeywell 5800RPS
Wireless Recessed Door Sensor
Description
The Honeywell 5800RPS is a wireless recessed door sensor with a roller plunger switch for alarm activation. When installed, the 5800RPS recessed door sensor is fully concealed and makes for an ideal choice for protecting your home's doors. The plunger switch contact is compatible with all Honeywell wireless home alarm systems.
To install the 5800RPS recessed door sensor you will need to use a 3/4" drill bit to drill into the door frame on the hinge side to a 1 1/4" depth. Once the first hole is drilled into the door jam, you need to drill a 1/4" hole in the center of that hole to make room for the 5800RPS sensor's antenna. This hole should go clean through the door frame and both studs behind the door frame. You can then thread the antenna of the 5800RPS recessed sensor into the hole and push the 5800RPS into place. When the door is closed, the plunger switch is depressed. As soon, as the door opens, the plunger switch pops out which activates an alarm to your Honeywell wireless home alarm system.
Do not install the 5800RPS in windows because the depth of the hole needed for installation could possibly cause your window to leak water when it rains. Also, when installed in a metal frame door the 5800RPS recessed door contact will not have the same robust range as when installed in a wood frame door.
The Honeywell 5800RPS recessed door sensor has an included lithium coin cell battery that should last (7) years with normal use. When the 5800RPS reports a low battery signal to your wireless home alarm system, you can simply replace the battery to clear the trouble signal from your alarm system.
