Description

The Honeywell 748 is an extremely loud dual-tone siren for indoor or outdoor use. The 748 is one of Honeywell’s loudest sirens at up to 119 dB. The 748 is ideal for use with Honeywell’s wired alarm control panels, including the VISTA series for installations that require a very loud siren.

The Honeywell 748 is ready to mount with no disassembly required, and is designed to easily fit on a standard 4” electrical box. It’s small size and a trim ring which conceals the mounting screws make the 748 a great siren choice for any home or business alarm system as it seamlessly integrates with almost any décor. The 748 is also weather resistant for both indoor and outdoor installation options. A tamper switch protects the 748 against any unwanted activity or attempts to disable the siren. The 748 has two tones and can be set for either a steady loud sound, or a warble siren sound. The siren has an operating current of 1200mA at 12VDC when activated.

The 748 loud dual-tone siren is among the most flexible and powerful sirens in Honeywell’s line. It is compatible with most wired security systems with a bell output circuit. In certain circumstances, such as the need for multiple sirens, you may want to consider the Honeywell 748LC which provides the same features and a comparable volume level but with a smaller current draw.

Note: When connecting the siren, the black wire is always connected to the negative (-) bell output. Then either the red or yellow siren is connected to the positive (+) bell output. You use yellow if you want a steady, continuous tone. You use red if you want warble, non-continuous tone.

Hi Bthis, This sounder would be similarly comparable to what you have. I would verify the part number of your current sounder and compare the specifications of that sounder to this as you do not want to draw too much current from your system. The sounder above is a 25 watt sounder, where the DSC SD-15WULF, Honeywell WAVE2, Honeywell WAVE2EX, and Honeywell 747 are 15 watt sounders which you mentioned you were replacing.
I was told to get a two-wire 15 watt siren to replace my existing alarm system siren which is failing. Will this work?
Hi Matthew, sounds like you have your annunciation game well in hand! We're glad you're happy with the sirens.
Awesome siren. Incredibly loud. It's in my attic near a gable vent and definitely loud enough to wake up neighbors. If you placed it inside, it would be uncomfortably loud. If you've got the power (1.2A), it's perfect. If not, wire up an SMP3 and RBSNTTL.
What would that be on the 21iP? Thanks
Yes, you can wire sirens in parallel as long as your maximum current draw doesn't exceed your panel's bell output.
Can I wire this siren in parallel with my interior siren or should I go with the 748LC? Thanks
