Honeywell L5200PK-5811

Basic Wireless Home Security Kit with Wafer Thin Sensors

Average rating:

(based upon one review)

This kit includes 1 5800PIR-RES motion detector, 3 5811s, a 5834-4 key fob, and the L5200 system itself. It does not come with any of the available communicators. Consider, also, including the LT-Cable with any kit, as it makes DIY installations much more simple. This kit is the same as the L5200PK, except that it comes with 3 5811 door and window sensors instead of the bulkier 5816 sensors.

Old System Kit
Submitted on 12/30/2019 Alarm Grid

The Honeywell L5200PK-5811 is an Alarm Grid system kit that includes a Honeywell L5200 System, three (3) Honeywell 5811 Door/Window Contacts, one (1) Honeywell 5800PIR-RES Motion Sensor, and one (1) Honeywell 5834-4 Key Fob. The Honeywell L5200 is a relatively old system that does not support the more advanced features offered from most of the newer panels. The kit also does not include a power cable, nor does it include a communicator. Still, the L5200 is a decent system, and it can be upgraded to support dual-path connectivity and standard Z-Wave. If you already have an L5200, then it can still be used nicely without total replacement. All things considered, we give the Honeywell L5200PK-5811 a 4 Star rating.

There are some key things we like about the L5200PK-5811. The L5200 is a touchscreen system, and it is relatively easy to use. The Honeywell 5811 Door/Window Sensors are quite thin and unobtrusive, making them great for use in the home. The Honeywell 5800PIR-RES works quite well as a motion sensor, and it offers pet immunity. The Honeywell 5834-4 is a convenient key fob that makes it easy to control the system. You can upgrade the L5200 with various accessories, and the LYNXTOUCH-MSD Firmware Updater tool can be used to get the panel on the latest firmware.

However, there are some major downsides to this system kit. Although a power transformer is included, there is no wiring or cabling. You must provide your own wiring or compatible cable, such as a Honeywell LT-Cable. The kit also lacks a communicator. You will need to add a Honeywell L5100-WIFI and/or an LTE communicator (LTE-L57A or LTE-L57V) to get the system connected with AlarmNet360 for use with Total Connect 2.0. And if you want to use Z-Wave, then an L5100-ZWAVE module is needed. This is also an older system, and many users may want something newer and more robust. Some examples of more robust systems include the Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus and the Honeywell Lyric Controller. Finally, this system kit is discontinued, and it can no longer be purchased.

The Honeywell L5200PK-5811 was a fine system kit for its time. But today, it is pretty outdated, and there are better options available. It gets 4 Stars from Alarm Grid.

Good: Touchscreen System, Nice Sensors, Convenient Key Fob, Can Receive Firmware Updates

Bad: No Wiring/Cabling Included, No Communicator, Requires Added Accessories for Some Functions, Some Accessories Need Firmware Updates, Discontinued

Bottom Line: 4 Stars

The L52000 and the L7000 are capable of the same sorts of automation features. You can see a list of the differences between the two units Here: https://www.alarmgrid.com/faq/honeywell-l5200-vs-l7000.
Is the 7000 capable of this feature?
Not sure if you are still in the market, but we are now offering a device that integrates your existing wired smokes. It is called the Encore FF345 - https://www.alarmgrid.com/products/encore-ff345. It is a listening device that will trip by the sound of a smoke detector as long as its mounted within 6 inches of a smoke. Hi Ash, I'm sorry that you are disappointed with the automation capabilities of the LYNX Touch L5200. You can created scenes/rules to activate the lights off system actions, zone faults, and schedule times but you are correct in that you can't add the second layer or logic that would allow a scene/rule to only run after a delay period. You may find a home automation system like the Vera is a better option for your more advanced Z-Wave needs. The L5200 can act as a Secondary Controller so that you could include all the Z-Wave devices into the LYNX for security/automation integration and then you could send those same Z-Wave devices down to the Vera for the more advanced Z-Wave needs.
Honeywell did a poor job on z wave automation capability in Lynx5200 as it is very basic. Does not allow to add any timer feature to turn on/off a light after a preset delay. I had a 15 year old Honeywell system that has this feature which I can link to my Motion sensors to turn on / off lights. Not very happy.
Unfortunately, there is no way to integrate wired smokes with LYNX Touch systems. That may change but as it stands now there is no way to do it. You would need to install a 5808W3 ( https://www.alarmgrid.com/products/honeywell-5808w3 ) if you are looking to integrate smoke detection with the LYNX Touch system.
Assuming I have a smoke detector system that has a relay in it that will activate either a NC or NO pair or wires. Can these be wired into the Lynx 5200 to create an alert if the smoke alarms trigger? I am considering the self-monitoring option, to send text or email alerts.
If you use a wireless or wired relay module and a power supply, you can hooked up nearly any wired siren to a LYNX Touch. This document details the connections - https://www.alarmgrid.com/documents/honeywell-lynxtouch-external-sounder-install-guide
Can I hook up the Amseco SSX-52S to Honeywell L5200PK-5811
