Qolsys IQ DW MINI-S
Encrypted Wireless Sensors for IQ Panel 2
Description
The encrypted S-Line sensor technology protects all signals sent to the IQ Panel while continuing to provide backward compatibility for legacy 319.5 systems. The Mini-S makes the “brain” of your home (IQ Panel) even smarter by letting you know when a door, window, or anything that has the Mini-S installed is open.
The Mini-S is easy to install and can be added to anything that opens or closes throughout your home or place of business. With a long battery-life (included), you don’t have to worry about whether or not your complete security system is working to its full potential.
Who Can Benefit From the Mini-S?
Anyone who already uses the Qolsys IQ Panel on a daily basis can benefit from installing Mini-S sensors. If you’ve been considering installing the IQ Panel in your home or office, the Mini-S devices will make the system more complete. Whether you would benefit from one Mini-S sensor or ten, they are a great addition to any room, door, window, and even in garages.
Do you have children that are forgetful when it comes to closing the door? Not only can a door left open be a security risk but it can also affect the efficiency of your HVAC system. You can customize the Mini-S device to send notifications when a door is left open, and you can adjust the thermostat accordingly if a door is left ajar.
Maybe you have a medicine cabinet, a gun safe, a closet, or a home office that you want to be able to monitor and have extra security. The Mini-S is easy to install onto anything that opens, which means you can install it to a small cabinet or a large window and anything in between. IQ DW Mini-S Specifications
The sensor is small and discreet measuring 2.25”H x 1”W x .5” D. With a one-of-a-kind board and antenna design, the sensor can be mounted on a variety of surfaces and has an extensive range.
There is an extra tamper on the back of the sensor that will notify you if it falls off of the area where it’s installed or if someone has removed the sensor. Code outputs include tamper, tamper restore, alarm, alarm restore, low battery.
The wireless signal range extends up to 600 ft. in open air and has a 319 MHz transmitter frequency. The Mini-S sensor operates best between -0 to 50 degrees Celsius (14 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit) and with relative humidity between 5 and 95 percent.
When not in use or installed, the sensor should be stored at temperatures between -40 to 80 degrees Celsius (-40 to 176 degrees Fahrenheit).
The sensor requires two 3V CR2032 batteries and should be replaced every five years for optimal performance. Recommended batteries include Panasonic CR2032, Energizer CR2032, Duracell DL2032.
Installing Your IQ Mini-S
Each Mini-S sensor includes an earth magnet which allows for flexible mounting options on a variety of surfaces from cabinets and doors to windows. You will want to select an area on a door, window, or cabinet that is out of reach of small children and cannot be tampered with easily.
Once you have selected a location where you want to mount your Mini-S, the next step will be to sync your sensors up with your IQ Panel. The Qolsys IQ Panel 2 can connect with up to 128 IQ Mini-S sensors, which allows enhanced security throughout a home or building.
To do this, select “settings,” then “advanced settings.” Next, you will be prompted to enter a code, and you can enter the Dealer code (2222) or the Installer code (1111). Select “installation,” “devices,” and then “security sensors.” You can manually add the sensor or touch “auto learn.”
After you press “auto learn” on the panel you will remove the battery tabs on the back of your sensor. The sensor is then added to your list (if you have more than one sensor). You have the option to customize what type of sensor type it is and can create a custom description, as well as distinct chimes.
The settings on the panel are easy to follow and change as needed. Make sure the S-Line is selected when you set up your settings rather than a different security option.
Next, apply the provided adhesive strips to the back of the sensor and magnet. If you prefer a more permanent and secure install, you can use the small screws that are included with your Mini-S sensor.
You will line up the magnet and sensor (using the magnet locator mark) and make sure the gap between the magnet and sensor is no more than three-quarters of an inch.
Troubleshooting
If you have installed your Mini-S sensor properly and set it up with your IQ Panel, you shouldn’t encounter any issues. If you experience a consistent “offline” message, there is likely an issue with your signal. Even if a signal was once strong, there’s a chance that it can go bad.
Some common causes of signal trouble could be a low battery or weak power to the sensor radio. The sensor may be located too far away from the IQ Panel or metal, and other environmental factors may cause interference.
You may get a better signal by replacing the battery, reorienting the device (from horizontal to vertical and vice versa), or installing the device closer to the panel. If you continue to experience issues, call customer care for more tips and advice.
Note: Qolsys sensors operate at 319.5 MHz. They will not work with the 345 MHz and the 433 MHz versions of the Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus. They are designed for the 319.5 MHz IQ Panel 2 Plus and other 319.5 MHz systems.
