Qolsys IQ4 Hub 319.5 MHz Verizon LTE 10-1 Kit

The Qolsys IQ4 Hub 319.5 MHz Verizon LTE 10-1 Kit is a perfect starter for a larger home or a small business. This panel supports the Legacy Interlogix/GE and Qolsys 319.5 MHz wireless sensors. This kit comes with ten (10) VERSA-GE Door/Window Sensors and one (1) Qolsys IQ Motion-S motion detector with S-Line encryption.

The main reason to choose a panel that supports legacy RF sensors is that you plan to replace an existing panel that already has this type of sensor installed. The panel may be outdated, but the sensors all work just fine. A DIY user can save a lot of money by not replacing sensors that still work. Maybe the existing panel only has coverage for the doors, but now you'd like to add contacts to all the windows. This kit allows you to do that.

At the heart of the Qolsys IQ4 Hub is the same processor as the slightly more feature-rich Qolsys IQ Panel 4. This is an 8-core Qualcomm SnapDragon processor with 16 GB of NAND Flash memory. The base operating system is Android 9. This allows Qolsys to offer frequent feature updates because both the hardware and the software are there to support them. The IQ4 Hub does not have a front-facing camera for disarm photos. It also has only one (1) speaker, one (1) 85 dB piezo siren, and one (1) microphone. For this reason, the IQ4 Hub does not support 2-Way Voice. It only supports a single RF sensor frequency, in this case, 319.5 MHz. The IQ4 Hub uses the same Smart Mount system as the IQ Panel 4, but it does not support a connection using the Qolsys IQ Base.

Additional features of the Qolsys IQ4 Hub include live-answer for all Alarm.com doorbell cameras. It also supports viewing other Alarm.com cameras but does not currently support the 2-way voice feature with any cameras other than the doorbell cams. It supports Bluetooth disarming as well as Bluetooth audio streaming. It includes support for the latest Z-Wave Plus 800-Series modules. As always, it is backward compatible with all older versions of Z-Wave Plus and standard Z-Wave.

The Verizon LTE communicator that comes built into the IQ4 Hub is there to provide robust and reliable communication between the alarm system and the Alarm.com servers. There is also a dual-band WIFI communicator built in. Registering and using cellular communication is required with all Alarm.com systems. This is because Alarm.com treats dual-path communication a little differently than some other providers.

When dual-path is available, all signals are sent to Alarm.com using both WIFI and cellular. The signal that arrives at the server first is processed and delivered to the end-user, to the central station, or to both, depending on the monitoring plan being used. The duplicate signal is noted and discarded. In this way, Alarm.com ensures that each individual signal is transported using the fastest path available at that time. Unlike WIFI networks, cellular networks are very reliable and have redundancies in place to account for power fluctuations and high network traffic. Cellular communication, therefore, is much more reliable than WIFI, and reliability is so important when it comes to the safety and security of your loved ones and your property.

Also included in this kit are ten (10) VERSA-GE 319.5 MHz wireless door/window contacts. These tiny surface-mount sensors are an inexpensive way to protect doors, windows, or any type of opening such as a cabinet or even a drawer. Their small size makes them blend into just about any environment. The maximum gap spacing between the sensor and the magnet is .5" (1.27cm). They require a single CR2032 coin cell battery (included) and the expected battery life is five (5) to eight (8) years. They can easily be mounted using the provided double-sided foam tape, or the provided screws. They have a wireless transmitting range of ~500' (152.4m). They measure 2.2"L x 1.0"W x 0.3"D (5.5cm X 2.54cm X .76cm).

To round out this kit, we offer the Qolsys IQ Motion-S. This is an encrypted sensor using the Qolsys S-Line, rolling-code encryption. It has a detection area of 30' X 40' (9.14m X 12.19m) with an 80° field of view and offers pet-friendly use for small animals up to 40 pounds (18.1kg). The IQ Motion-S can either be corner-mounted or flat-mounted and the mounting hardware is included in the packaging. This PIR motion detector has a transmitting range of ~100' (30.4m) so keep that in mind when determining where to use this motion. It requires 2 (2) AAA batteries, included, and has an expected battery life of about five (5) years. As with any PIR, avoid mounting it near HVAC ducts, air vents, ceiling fans, or facing stairs. For pet-friendly operation, a mounting height of 7.5' (2.28m) is recommended. Follow all installation guidelines for proper pet-immunity.
