Qolsys QC000B-840
Ethernet Card for IQ4 Panels
Description
The Qolsys QC000B-840 aka IQ Card Ethernet, is an Ethernet card that allows you to connect an Ethernet cable to the panel. It is compatible with the IQ Panel 4, IQ4 Hub, and the IQ4 NS. These IQ panels come equipped with WIFI cards pre-installed. If you need to use an Ethernet cable instead, this card is required.
The family of IQ4 panels includes the IQ Panel 4, the IQ4 Hub, and the IQ4 NS. These panels have two (2) daughter card slots. The QC000B-840 Ethernet card can be installed in either slot number 1 or slot number 2, depending on which one is available. You can only use Ethernet or WIFI, not both. When you install the IQ Card Ethernet, the IQ4 panels may automatically disable the WIFI option. It can also be disabled manually in advanced settings. See installation manual for more details.
Before you install your new IQ Card Ethernet, the panel must first be updated to software version 4.3.0 or above. Once installed, you want to test the new card to ensure proper operation. To do this, go to settings > advanced settings > system test > Daughter card test > from there you should see Ethernet, click on Run to start the test to make sure it is working correctly.
The Qolsys QC000B-840 IQ Card Ethernet, just like the WIFI connection, talks to Alarm.com only. This allows you a reliable connection for alarm reporting and remote operation using the Alarm.com mobile app or customer website. The IQ Card Ethernet will NOT allow you to make a direct connection for any type of self-monitoring not going through Alarm.com.
When using the IQ Card Ethernet, you must still have a cellular connection as well. It comes preinstalled in all IQ4 panels. You can choose between an AT&T or Verizon cellular card. For this reason, all the IQ4 family of panels require a service plan that includes cellular capabilities. For Alarm Grid customers, this is a Gold or Platinum monitoring plan, either self or full.
