Resideo LTEMPA-TC2
Dual Path AT&T LTE Cat M1 Communicator, Total Connect 2.0 Upgrade Kit
Description
The Resideo LTEMPA-TC2 is an upgrade kit for Honeywell Vista residential alarm systems. It contains a Honeywell Home LTEM-PA dual-path communicator and four (4) PROM chips. The PROM chips allow the user to upgrade a 15P, 15PSIA, 20P, and 20PSIA. This kit allows an older residential VISTA Panel, or the First Alert equivalents, to support Total Connect 2.0 (TC2).
The LTEM-PA uses a hardwired ethernet connection for IP and the Verizon LTE Cat-M1 network for cellular communication. This kit allows you to upgrade a Honeywell VISTA 15P, Honeywell VISTA 15PSIASIA, First Alert FA148CP, First Alert FA148CPSIA, Honeywell VISTA 20P, Honeywell VISTA 20PSIASIA, First Alert FA168CPS, and the First Alert FA168CPSSIA. We also offer this upgrade kit with an AT&T LTE communicator. If you have a VISTA 21ip, this kit is not for you. To upgrade a PROM on a 21ip, see our 21ip PROM upgrade. This kit is also not compatible with the VISTA TURBO panels, such as the VISTA-128BPT. The LTEM-PA is compatible with a TURBO panel, but the PROM chips are not.
This kit is for users who have an older VISTA panel (versions 2 - 7), as mentioned above, and who want to upgrade both the panel and its ability to communicate. By purchasing this kit, the user can chip upgrade the panel so that it supports Total Connect 2.0. The LTE communicator can replace a phone line connection, or a cellular communicator made to work with older technology. LTE stands for Long Term Evolution, and AT&T has promised to support this network far into the future.
All of the above-referenced Honeywell and First Alert Professional residential alarm panels, with the exception of the VISTA-21iP, must have at least a revision 9 chip in order to support Total Connect 2.0. The PROMs included with this kit are compatible with almost all revisions of the panels listed above. In order to support a chip upgrade, the original VISTA or First Alert panel must be on Version 2 or higher. This kit ships with the most up-to-date PROM chips at the time the order is placed. See our faq regarding replacing PROM chips on a VISTA Panel. We have also found issues with using the SIA chips in a non-SIA board.
The LTEM-PA works on the AT&T LTE cellular network. It arrives with support for a hardwired ethernet connection. If you prefer to use WIFI instead of wired ethernet, then you can upgrade with an add-on module. There are two (2) options and they include the Honeywell Home PROWIFI (WIFI only) or the Honeywell Home PROWIFIZW (WIFI & Z-Wave Plus). These modules can be set up by your alarm installer using the AlarmNet 360 website or the AlarmNet 360 App. The WIFI connection can also be configured by the end-user through Total Connect 2.0. Neither of these WIFI devices can support 5 GHz WIFI networks. Please note that it is not possible to use both a wired ethernet connection and a WIFI Module simultaneously with the Honeywell LTEM-PA. Only one (1) of those compatible internet connection options can be used at any given time.
Installing the LTEM-PA will require the use of the included DC power supply. This differs when compared to its predecessor, the LTE-IV, which used an AC transformer. It comes with an included 3-wire harness which is used to connect the communicator to the keypad bus on the VISTA panel. It does not come with the wire to connect the included DC power adapter to the LTEM-PA. We recommend using 18 gauge wire, with either two (2) or four (4) conductors. If you use four (4) conductor wire, you will only use two (2) of the conductors (wires). You can also use a Honeywell LT-Cable, which comes with pre-stripped wires, and spade connectors at the power adapter end. We have gone over the installation guide and provided an easier-to-follow guide with an included video that better explains the installation.
The LTEM-PA communicates using the AlarmNet 360 servers. This is how alarms are reported to the monitoring station for central station monitored accounts. AlarmNet 360 is also the platform used for Total Connect 2.0 communication. TC2 allows users to remotely access and control their alarm system. They can arm and disarm, bypass, and manage users. It also allows a user to set up notifications and alerts that go directly the user via Text, Email, and/or Push Notifications. Also, with a compatible monitoring plan that includes automation, you can control Z-Wave automation devices (requires a Z-Wave controller like the PROWIFIZW). With Z-Wave added, the user can set up automated scenes based on system events or schedules. The LTEM-PA does not carry the UL-985 Listing for Residential Fire. If you require a communicator with that listing, you'll need to look at the Resideo LTEM-PIA. The LTEM-PIA communicator is currently not offered in a Total Connect upgrade kit that includes a PROM chip. You can put the pieces together and purchase the communicator and a Vista 15P PROM chip or a Vista 20P PROM chip, separately.
