Resideo Skybell DBCAM-DAK
Doorbell Camera Digital Adapter Kit
Description
The Resideo Skybell Doorbell Camera Digital Adapter Kit acts as a power regulator and makes the Skybell Doorbell Cameras compatible with a digital door chime. It works with the Resideo Skybell DBCAM-TRIM2 as well as most other Skybell devices. Without it, the Skybell may be damaged.
The DBCAM-DAK is required any time the Skybell will be used with a digital doorbell chime instead of a mechanical chime. You can tell the difference between the two by pressing and holding the existing doorbell button (prior to installation of the Skybell Video Doorbell). If pressing and holding the button produces a "ding" sound that seems to get stuck, then you have a mechanical doorbell. If when you press and hold the doorbell button you hear a melody play, or the doorbell sound is produced with no change in the way it normally sounds, then you have a digital doorbell chime, and you will need the DBCAM-DAK.
Door chimes that consist of a bell and hammer (similar to an old fashioned alarm clock) are not compatible with any model of the Skybell DBCAM series. The Skybell devices are also not compatible with intercom systems, or pipe style chimes. There are no future plans to integrate with these door chime styles.
The DBCAM-DAK is simple to install, and should be able to fit inside the plastic housing for the digital doorbell itself. Be sure that power to the doorbell transformer is shut off at the breaker before you continue. When you open the digital doorbell chime, you should find one wire from the transformer to a terminal marked "Transformer", and one wire from the existing doorbell that is connected to either Front, or Rear (indicating either the front or rear door). You'll move the wire that was connected to the "Transformer" terminal to one of the available terminals on the DBCAM-DAK. You'll move the wire that was connected to Front or Rear to the other available terminal on the DBCAM-DAK. The two flying leads coming from the adapter will then connect to "Front" or "Rear", and "Transformer" on the Digital Chime.
When the Skybell is wired in place of the existing doorbell button, all the connections should be completed and when you power everything back on, it should work as intended. A press of the Resideo Skybell Doorbell button should cause the digital doorbell to chime in the same manner as the old doorbell button you replaced.
