TP Link TL-SF1005P

The TP-Link TL-SF1005P is a five (5) port desktop switch. It supports four (4) PoE+ ethernet ports. PoE stands for Power over Ethernet. It allows you to provide both power and network over a single cable. Each port can power up to 30 Watts, and all ports combined can't exceed 67 Watts.

This unmanaged switch allows the user to quickly set up or extend a network to add IP cameras and IP phones that use PoE. Using a single power outlet, you can now provide power to the SF1005P and up to four (4) powered IP devices. PoE allows you to simplify installation, reduce the number of electrical cords, and save power outlets for other devices that don't support PoE.

The TP-Link TL-SF1005P supports IEEE 802.3af/at compliant Powered Devices (PDs). When a compliant device is plugged in, the SF1005P will automatically sense it, and provide it with power. Each of Ports 1 - 4 can support up to 30W each as long as all PoE PDs don't exceed 67W. The power overload arrangement of this device means that Port-1 = Port-2 = Port-3 >Port-4. Ports 1 - 3 have a higher priority than Port-4. If the PoE current requirement exceeds the switch's capacity, Port-4 will be shut down. If it is still too high, then Port-3 will be shut down, and so on.

Extend Mode is enabled via a switch on the TL-SF1005P. When this mode is enabled, the network speed is reduced to 10 Mbps, but the transmitting distance is increased. In Extend Mode, data and power can be pushed up to 250m (820'). Other factors may affect this transmitting distance such as cable quality and type. If extended cable runs are not required, disable Extend Mode and data will transmit at 100 Mbps for up to 100m (328').

The TP-Link TL-SF1005P offers durable build quality with a metal housing to protect the internal components. It can sit atop your desk, or be mounted to a wall. The switch does not have a built-in fan, so it is noiseless. It's small form factor allows it to fit unobtrusively in nearly any environment.
