Hi, DIYers. This is John with Alarm Grid, and today, I'm going to show you how to upgrade the firmware on your 2GIG EDGE panel. There's two different ways to upgrade your firmware. You can do it over the air. That's done by the dealer. They will do a push out to your panel. If you have Wi-Fi connection, it's free. If you have cellular connection, there might be a small charge, usually under $4. The other way you can do this is by using a USB drive. Now you can get the files for the USB drive off of our website. You can download them into your computer and then move them to a USB drive, or you can download them directly into a USB drive. USB drive inserts into this panel directly into the top. Here, on a new panel, you'll probably find that there's a little rubber boot that you need a pull. You put the USB drive in, and when you're done you'd put the little boot back. To download these files navigate to the website that you're seeing on the screen right now. Click the link at the website, and that will take you to the Alarm Grid dropbox page. Download the files to your computer. When the file is completely downloaded, it will have a dot 2gig extension. Move the files to the USB drive, and you need to use a Windows machine here only. Now we can't show you the update on this panel because this panel is already updated. It is important though, that when you're updating that the panel have an uninterruptible AC power source connected to it. When you put the USB jack into the drive into the top of the panel, the panel is going to display that there is a new update available for the panel. At this time, it's going to ask you to put in either the installer code, which is the default is 1561, or it's going to ask you to put in. You're going to put it in the master code 1111, and at that point, you'll press update. The panel will update. The panel at the end of the update may restart, may restart more than once. And when it's complete, there will be a message will come up from the panel saying that the install is complete. If you have a wireless keypad, you also need to update that. You would update the panel first, and the keypad will automatically update itself by downloading from the panel. After this, you can just take the USB jack out. If you still got the little rubber bootie, put that in. It'll keep dust out of the jack, and that's how you update the firmware on an EDGE panel.
