Hey, DIYers. Dylan here with Alarm Grid. Today we're going to review how to activate the warning sound on an alarm.com camera. We have the V515. And not all the cameras have this feature. Mainly the ones that offer the two-way audio do we have a list of these cameras on our website, as well as the firmware that they need to be on for it to function.

But essentially we're going to show you how to enable this option here. That's activated through the live view of the camera. So if you are viewing your camera or if you get a notification that the camera's detected movement and you open up your live view on either the alarm.com app or the website, you can activate that warning sound to scare away any potential intruders.

All right, so here we are on the alarm.com website. The camera that we're using is the V515. So what we're going to do is we are going to access the video section. It's going to load in our camera to make sure that it is online. And it is. And there is James.

All right, so we will go to Settings. We're going to go to Video Device Info. And now here's our camera information. So this specific camera-- we have the other firmwares for the other cameras that have this option listed on our website.

But for the V515, we need to be on firmware 5.546 or higher. We're on 5.549. If you need to update, you'll have an update option here. And then you'll scroll down, and you'll see the Call Volume option. If you do not see this option here, contact your monitoring company so they can enable this feature for you.

So right here, it says Disable Warning Sounds. We do not want that disabled. We want that enabled. So we're going to leave that unchecked.

We're going to go back to our camera, just to test that. I'm going to do it again. All right, so we have James here, and we want to keep him away from us. So I'm going to go ahead and click the warning sound.

[SIREN WAILING]

Perfect. All right, so we have scared James away. We got him far away from us, and now we are safe and sound. OK, so that is how you enable this and access it through the alarm.com website. We will now go over to the application and access it from there as well.

All right, so we are on the alarm.com application now. So even though we already know the feature is enabled, we'll just double-check through the app. So we will go to Video. We'll go to Settings on the top right. We're going to select our camera. We'll go to Alerts.

Wait for this to load. OK, camera audio alert is enabled, and our volume is all the way up. So we'll go back to Video. All right, we're going to load into our camera here, activate the live view. Hello.

OK. And we are going to go ahead and activate the siren.

[SIREN WAILING]

[SIREN SHUTS OFF]

All right, perfect. So that is how you activate the camera siren through the application as well. Again, we already have the feature enabled, and by default, it's going to be enabled. So if you try to test this out and it's not working, just be sure to check that setting and verify that it is, in fact, enabled so you can then activate it through the live view option through either the application or the website.

OK, so that is how you enable the warning sound on your alarm.com camera. [ALARM SOUND] Again, we have a full list of the compatible cameras that have this feature, as well as if they need to be on a specific firmware or not. You can update the firmware through alarm.com, either through the website or the application, and you can enable this feature and access it also through the website or the application.

Again, you also need to have the audio feature enabled for these cameras. That's not always enabled by default. So if you're on alarm.com and you're not seeing the option to enable that siren sound, contact your monitoring company. They can pull up your account and get that enabled for you fairly easily.
