hey di where is Dylan here with alarmgrid today we're going over can i connect my assignment xti or Simon XTi five to Wi-Fi the short answer is no you cannot the Simon XTi does not have a Wi-Fi option built in nor does have a slot to insert a Wi-Fi module the Simon XTi does have a phone line jack so you can connect this to a phone line and do monitoring that way however that is not recommended as phone line is a bit antiquated and not really reliable technology and also does not give you access to control the system remotely or get notifications remotely as well but that's besides the point so how this does connect to monitoring without using phone line is actually using a cell module or so card so this device gets installed into the panel it'll give the panel access to be registered to alarm comm which is an online service that dealers will use to register systems so companies can start monitoring them and users can start monitoring as well and receive notifications from the device to their smart device so with the cell module basically you have a couple of different options it has a general just model number with different types of carriers that model number is 600 - 1048 - xt - LTE - and then the company name companies would be VZ for Verizon 84 AT&T or TL for Telus which is a Canadian carrier so Verizon AT&T for the United States tell us for Canada basically that device gets installed into the module there is a serial number that's on that device that you'll give your alarm dealer so they can actually register the system that way they can start remotely programming assist with getting you set up with a remote application and then have monitoring setup as well so if the arm goes off a signal is sent out and then either a Central Station or your smart device is being notified about the alarm itself now with that also installed it does it an option to do a z-wave basically z-wave are remote I'm not not remote our home automation devices such as lights locks thermostats shade control such things like that home automation basically something that's not security essential but it just makes your life as a homeowner a little bit easier so the cell module will actually give this panel that capability to work with those devices and you can control those through the alarm.com application remotely through the smart device or through a computer going actually to the website as mentioned before you can also do phone line with the system it is not recommended because you cannot have the ability to control z-wave to get remote monitoring have a company have remote access to the system to do programming basically if this has a phone line attached all it's doing is sending out a signal to a central station and they will be responding to the alarms accordingly basically if the alarm goes off they're gonna receive that the end-user won't be notified of the alarm until they receive a phone call from the center station but it'll still send out signal has mentioned it's not recommended it is a bit antiquated and is not very reliable technology so yeah that is essentially everything about if you can connect the xti or the XT i-5 to Wi-Fi as a quick recap you cannot it only connects to a cell module which is the 600 - 1048 - xt - LTE - either VZ for verizon TL for Telus which is Canadian or 80 for AT&T if you have any questions about monitoring about cell modules or about the Simon feel free to email us support at alarm grid comm also check out our website wwlp.com and if you did like this video please like and subscribe and hit the bell icon to be notified when a really smart content thank you for watching my name is dylan from alarm grid have a good day
