Description
Today's question is "How long does the battery from the Honeywell 5811 wireless thin door and window sensor last?" asked by Josh from Connecticut. http://www.alarmgrid.com/faq/how-long-do-the-batteries-last-in-honeywells-wireless-window-and-door-sensors
It really depends on how much you're using your sensor. If it's on your front door, and you're going in and out of your door multiple times throughout the day, it won't last as long as it would on a window that you rarely open or shut.
These batteries were designed to last a long time, however, and under normal conditions, you can expect no less than 5 years of life.

Hi DIYers. This is Sterling with Alarm Grid. Today I will be answering Josh from Connecticut's question. And he was wondering, "How long does the battery in the 5811 wireless thin door and window sensor last? "
Now, this is a subjective question because it really depends on how much you are using your sensor. If it is on your front door and you are going in and out of your door every single day, multiple times during the day, it may not last as long as if it's on a window that you rarely open and shut.
However, Honeywell says on average, it should last 5-7 years. We have found that is a true estimate. That this is not one of those manufacturers that spits it out as 5, and you know within a year you have to replace.
No, this is a really high quality battery. It was designed to last many, many uses. So you are going to find at least 5 years with this battery, under normal conditions.
