Panels That Support Telguard HomeControl Flex

Hi, DIY-ers. Joe here from AlarmGrid. And today, we're going to talk about whether or not your system is compatible with the Telguard Express and whether or not it can use the Telguard HomeControl Flex service that they offer. What the TG-1E or the Telguard Express is it's an alarm communicator that works with cellular communication and it can interface on to an alarm system that has a phone line input. So if you have a Legacy system, this may be a device that you have considered or you might be considering as it's very convenient in what it does. If you have an older alarm system installed in your location and you don't feel like installing a whole new system there, what you can do with the TG-1E, as long as it is compatible with the system, is install it, connect it to the phone lines based on the wiring diagram, and you'll actually be able to have that system communicate through the TG-1E and it will have a cellular connection after that point. The way that TG-1E works with the system is that it's a dialer capture module. So basically, it has the system think that it is connected to the phone lines, systems here, the Telguard's here, Telguard's going to simulate that phone connection, the system's going to use that phone connection to communicate. And when it hits the Telguard, it's going to convert that into the cellular communication, send that up, and the system will be able to communicate out through that. This is super convenient because if you do have a Legacy system installed, you don't have to install any other devices. You just install the TG-1E on the system, connect it, activate it with an alarm company, and you're good to go. An example of this would be the Honeywell. Well, this is a 21iP, but if you have the 15P or a 20P installed in your location, you can literally take the Telguard unit, you just install it right on the box or right next to the system, wire it up, and then you're good. You have a cellular connection now on this older alarm system. At AlarmGrid, read we support systems, most systems, for use with Telguard that can report in the contact ID format. So if you are interested in installing a Telguard onto your system, you will want to check to make sure that it does have that format. You can just reach out to us, we can also help you figure out if your system is compatible for the Telguard service or not. Now, what the HomeControl Flex is, that's their remote service. There is an app and you'll be able to do a couple of different things with the system. And there are some other caveats with that as far as the wiring goes, so you will want to make sure that the system can support that before you invest in everything to use that service. A couple of things is that it uses the open and close reporting to figure out if the system's armed or disarmed. And if there's a key switch input on the system, they'll actually be able to use that to arm and disarm the system remotely. There are a few different systems that the Telguard is explicitly compatible with, the Honeywell 15P, the Honeywell 20P it is compatible with. There is a few different DSC systems that it's compatible with, a couple Networx systems such as the NX6 and the NX8. Within each of these system types though from these different manufacturers, there is only particular systems that it is directly compatible with so you will want to make sure that your system is 100% compatible.
