Red Flashing Light on a Honeywell Motion Sensor Means Walk Test

Transcript

Hey, [? DIYers. ?] This is Bryce from AlarmGrid. And today we're going to learning about why the 5800 PR RES motion detector shows a red light after you insert a battery. This red light is to show you that it's in a walk-test mode. A walk-test mode is basically letting you know that the motion is working and will be in walk-test mode for the next 10 minutes initially after you insert battery. It will blink red after every time it picks up a motion to let you know that it is working. So if you insert a battery-- there we go. Shouldn't be that hard for you guys. And we put the backpack on. You'll notice that it will blink red. Once it blinks red, it'll pick up-- it'll blink red again every time it picks up a motion. This is to show you that it is working. So after you program it, you have the confidence to know that it is working. A common misconception when you program a motion detector is that it's not working. But one thing about motion detector is to save the battery in wireless motions, they turn off after every three minutes after they pick up a motion. That is called a transmission delay. So to give you some confidence to let you know that it's working, they have a walk-test that blinks red every time to show you that it's picking up motion. And the transmission delay is not valid when it's in walk-test mode. If you find this information helpful, please hit the like and subscribe button.
