In this video, Michael from Alarm Grid covers the reset functions that can be performed on a Honeywell Home Tuxedo Keypad. There are three (3) types of resets that can be performed. These are a Tuxedo Keypad Refresh, a Tuxedo Keypad Factory Default, and a Z-Wave Factory Default. Each reset type follows its own specific process and has a different outcome. Make sure to choose the correct reset option depending upon your needs.
The Tuxedo Keypad Refresh is nothing more than a power cycle of the Tuxedo. It will simply power down and then reboot as normal. The keypad will refresh information from the panel as part of this process. In order to execute a Tuxedo Keypad Refresh, simply choose the option within the Advanced Settings Menu. You will be required to provide the Installer Code for the Tuxedo to access this menu. If the Tuxedo is paired with a VISTA Panel, then it will use the system's Installer Code as its own Installer Code, As a reference, the default Installer Code for a Honeywell VISTA System is 4112.
Next is the Tuxedo Keypad Factory Reset. This function restores the Tuxedo Keypad to its factory default settings. All setting changes will need to be reconfigured as needed after a factory reset has been performed. Many users will perform a Tuxedo Keypad Factory Reset when they are planning to sell the Tuxedo or give it away to someone else so that the new user can start with fresh settings. This option is also found within the Tuxedo Advanced Settings Menu.
The final type of reset for a Tuxedo Keypad is a Z-Wave Factory Reset. This is a complete reset of the Tuxedo's Z-Wave controller, and it removes all programmed Z-Wave devices from the network. Any Z-Wave device you want to continue using will need to be re-added to the network. Remember to first perform an inclusion process for any Z-Wave device you are re-adding, as the Z-Wave device will still have residual network information from when it was paired with the Tuxedo earlier. A Z-Wave Factory Reset will also reset the Tuxedo Z-Wave Network ID. This option is found within Z-Wave device management.

Hi DIYers. This is Michael from Alarm Grid, and today I'm going to be showing you how to reset a Honeywell Home or a Resideo Tuxedo keypad. There are actually three different reset processes that you can perform for a Honeywell Home Tuxedo keypad. The three that I'll be going over today, there is a Tuxedo keypad refresh, which is just basically rebooting the keypad. There's a factory default, which will clear all the settings and configurations for the Tuxedo, but it won't clear Z-Wave devices. It will clear the names and any rules and scenes that you have set up, but it won't actually wipe out Z-Wave devices from the system, for that second one, for the factory default. And then the third one that we can reform is a Z-Wave factory default. And that will clear all the Z-Wave devices, so that's basically a reset of the Z-Wave controller. So let's go through them one by one. The first one we're going to do is that Tuxedo keypad refresh, which is just rebooting the keypad so it reloads again. This will also be done automatically if you go into programming. Whether that's on the Tuxedo or a different keypad that's connected with the same Vista System, it will automatically reboot. But to perform the refresh, we press the gear icon. We're at the main screen, first of all. And then we press the gear icon at the bottom of the screen. And then we choose System Setup. And then we choose Advanced Setup. And then we have to enter in our installer code. Assuming your Tuxedo is connected with the Vista System, it will be 4112 as the default. If it's not connected, 4140, if it's not connected with the Vista System. But ours is, so 4-1-1-2 is our default code because it's connected with the Vista System. So then we're in the advanced setup menu. And we can just choose the Keypad Reset option right here. And it will ask us if we're sure we want to reset, and we'll press OK. And then it's performing the rebooting process. Again, this doesn't actually change anything on the Tuxedo. This is just a quick and easy way to reset the keypad, so that way it reloads, it'll refresh information from panel. Maybe if your Tuxedo was being glitchy, it wasn't working properly, or something, you might do this just as a quick way to give it a little kick. And when it reloads, then hopefully it's working a little bit better. So they put this option in there. Again, the same thing is done if you were to go into programming on the Tuxedo or another keypad connected with the same Vista System. And then you did your programming changes and you used star 99 to exit programming, then you will get that reboot process. Same thing if you go into Console Mode, and then go into Programming, Exit, it will automatically reboot. So you see we're back online here. We're back at the main screen of the Tuxedo, so that completed the Tuxedo keypad refresh. So the second one we'll do, we'll do the Tuxedo factory default. This will do a lot of things, which I'll describe a little bit. But let's get into it. So to do the factory default, we'll press the Settings icon at the bottom, or it kicked us out just before I clicked it. So I will click now the gear icon, the Settings icon. And then what we're going to choose, we're going to choose system setup. And we're going to choose Advanced Setup. And then again, the same code as before, 4140, if it's not connected with a Vista. But ours is, so our default is 4112. And then we can choose the Factory Default button in the bottom left. And it'll give us a caution message, are you sure you want to do this? This is a big step. You're pretty much clearing all the settings from the Tuxedo. So it wants to make sure you're sure. And we'll choose OK because we are. And then we're getting the reset in process. And it's also doing a Z-Wave factory reset in there. But this actually will keep the Z-Wave devices on the Tuxedo. There is a special Z-Wave factory default, which I'll show you in a moment. But that's how you do the factory default. What this is going to do, is this will clear all the settings and configurations that we have made on the Tuxedo. As far as Z-Wave is concerned, it will clear the device names. And it will clear any local scenes that you have created for Z-Wave devices. But you should still have your Z-Wave devices on there. It will take a minute to perform the factory default process. There a lot going on here. So you might do this if you're having major problems with your Tuxedo. If it's not working properly, and you need to do a last resort troubleshooting step, then you might do this factory default process. Another reason you might do it, if you're selling the Tuxedo, or you're giving it away to someone else and you want them to start fresh with brand new settings, then you would be likely to do this just to have them start fresh with a new Tuxedo. I mean, it's not actually new but it's loading it from scratch. You see when we do this, we get back to the main-- the new menu when we set up the Tuxedo for the first time. We have to choose a language and we have to choose an operation mode. We're fine with English and our normal operation, and so we'll click the check icon in the bottom right. And then it does ask us for a ECP address and an RSA address. We're fine keeping these at the defaults. You don't want to click primary RSA address if the Tuxedo is being used on a system that also uses Total Connect 2.0. Total Connect will be the primary RSA address. But we're fine with these so we'll click the checkmark icon. And it's getting the information from the panel. You see it did kick us off the Wi-Fi network. So we would have to do that again, if we were trying to get it connected Wi-Fi, which in most cases you are. But you see you're basically starting from scratch. You have to go through that initial setup wizard. It was very brief, you saw it just now. And you're going to have to reconfigure your Tuxedo. So really, you'll only do that if you're planning to give it away, sell the Tuxedo, or you're planning-- or if there's something really wrong with the Tuxedo and you need to fix it. And you look at this end user license agreement, we'll just click Accept for now. And it's going to ask us to connect with a Wi-Fi network. We'll quickly do that. We'll choose Alarm Grid, and we'll enter in our password here. And we're just entering that in, and we'll connect to that. And we will be hiding that in the video so you won't actually see the password there, but that is what you do. So then we'll choose the Next icon down here. And it does give us some more setup stuff. We'll just click Save. That's not actually our zip code, but we're fine with that for now. So we'll just choose Next and we'll just choose Finish. We don't need to set this up right now. And it does tell us how we can get to that again. But you see we are starting from scratch on the Tuxedo when you do the factory default. So that's two of the three resets that you can perform on the Tuxedo. The last one we can do is the Z-Wave factory default. So this clears all the Z-Wave devices from the Tuxedo. And you're basically starting from scratch, as far as Z-Wave is concerned. I'll just to show you how to do it. You click devices, and then you click Z-Wave setup, and then you click the More button down here in the bottom right corner. And then you choose Z-Wave Default. And then it's going to ask us if we're sure. Again, this is a big step because we're going to have to reconfigure our Z-Wave network. But we are sure, so we'll choose Yes. And then it's doing the Z-Wave default. Now, like I said, this clears all the Z-Wave devices from the Tuxedo. But it doesn't tell the Z-Wave devices what happens. So the Z-Wave devices will still think that they're actively paired with a network. So what you're going to have to do, if you want to continue using them with the Tuxedo, you're going to have to add them back into the network. And when you do this, you're going to want to clear them from the network first or delete them from the network. You can do this on any Z-Wave controller, including the Tuxedo. As you can see, it has the removed device option there. So when you do that, you press the Remove Device button, then you activate the inclusion exclusion function on your Z-Wave device. And you'll get a message stating that a device was cleared from the network. And that wipes out the Z-Wave data, so that way you can successfully pair it with a Tuxedo afterwards, or a different Z-Wave controller, if you were using that. But that's how you perform the Z-Wave default. We don't get taken back to the main menu. So we'll just choose the Home button up in the upper right corner. So those are the three reset processes for the Honeywell Home Tuxedo keypad. We had a Tuxedo keypad refresh, a Tuxedo factory default, and a Z-Wave factory default.
