MXBASE AND MX916/926/936 FIRE DEVICES INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS Introduction
The Photo-Heat, Photo, and Heat detectors, use heat, and smoke detection methods to detect fires,
see Figure 1 and Figure 2. Operate these detectors with HSM3105 MX module. See Table 1 for a
description of each detector type.
Note:
Refer to document 29011152: MX916/926/936 PRODUCT APPLICATION

AND

6 MXBASE installation
Install the MXBASE as shown in the wiring diagram below. As these are life-safety devices, it is
recommended to use the loop configuration to wire these devices to the HSM3105 module as
shown in Figure 3.

Detector installation
To install the Photo-Heat, Photo, or Heat detectors by docking them to the MXBASE, use the
following steps:
1. Identify the raised rib alignment markers on the edges of the detector and base.
2. With the detector marker positioned approximately 15 mm or 15 degrees counter-clockwise
from the base marker, attach the detector to the base.
3. Twist the detector clockwise to align the markers and lock the detector in place.
4. Insert the detector locking pin into its hole on the side of the base, see Figure 3. Use the
locking pin to prevent the detector from rotating out of the base.
Important:
Remove the dust cover once the installation is complete.
Note:
a. To release the locking pin, depress its spring tab by using a suitable tool that
would fit inside the access hole of the decetor cover, for example a screwdriver.
b. Photo-Heat detectors will not generate an alarm on heat alone.
c. Do not use smoke detectors with detector guards unless the combination has
been evaluated and found suitable for that purpose.
