DSC MX926
Wired Addressable Smoke Detector
Description
The DSC MX926 is an addressable smoke detector. These are for use with a Qolsys IQ Pro panel. Once you add a HSM3105 MX addressable loop module to the IQ Pro, you can then use the various MX devices of your choice. The MX926 uses the optical method to detect smoke. This is best used in places where the potential fire is slow-burning. The MX926 also has a small footprint, coming in at only 4.252" inches in diameter.
The IQ PRO comes in many variations. It is available in a metal or a plastic enclosure. It comes with either a Verizon, AT&T or Telus (Canada) Cellular LTE communicator. Along with PowerG wireless, it is also available with optional support for various legacy wireless frequencies (319.5, 345, and 433 MHz). One option for expansion is using the MX addressable loop. Adding the HSM3105 to the IQ Pro allows the ability to use the MX addressable loop devices.
The MX926 can be used in residential or commercial applications. The optical method used in the MX926 operates with an internal infrared LED, a barrier, and a photodiode light receptor. The photodiode light receptor is what triggers the alarm, the barrier prevents the light of the infrared LED from reaching the photodiode light receptor. When smoke particles enter the chamber, the LED light is scattered and is detected by the photodiode light receptor. This method is widely used and offers good false activation immunity.
Every MX926 requires an MXBASE. It must be purchased separately. This 4" base is where the wiring terminals reside. Then the MX926 securely mounts to the MXBASE. It also has a locking pin that can be inserted to prevent it from rotating off the base. Once the locking pin has been inserted, you must use a small tool and insert it into the access hole to release the locking pin in order to remove the MX926 from the base. We also offer these in a kit MX926KT. Each kit contains one (1) MX926, along with one (1) MXBASE.
The detectors should be wired into the IQ Pro's MX loop before powering on and starting the auto-enroll process. Each detector will get a unique address during enrollment. You will then have the option to change any default settings using the IQ Pro Installer app, available for Apple and Android devices. With the installer app, you can adjust whether the LED will blink during polling, as well as the smoke sensitivity settings. For LED blinking during poll, you have LED ON and LED OFF options. Smoke sensitivity options include low, medium, or high settings. Threshold compensation and Supervision are hardcoded settings that can not be changed.
The MX926 has a status LED that displays a flashing yellow LED that indicates a detector fault or isolation. It displays a flashing red LED for normal. It will go to a solid red LED when the detector is in alarm. These detectors should be mounted at least 4" from a ceiling or wall. It is also important not to mount within 3' of an air supply vent. Use the MX926 smoke detectors throughout your premises, while connected to the MX addressable loop of the Qolsy IQ Pro.
