Can I Arm/Disarm a DSC Impassa From My Phone?
Yes, you can arm and disarm a DSC Impassa from your phone. To do this, you will need to access the Alarm.com Mobile App on your phone. The DSC Impassa System will need to be connected with the Alarm.com service for this to work. This requires that the system receives cellular service.
Alarm.com is an interactive service that allows users to control their security systems. By accessing the service, a user can arm and disarm their system, check the status of sensors, control Z-Wave devices and more. With the Alarm.com Mobile App, these actions can be performed remotely using any Android or iOS device. This makes it possible to arm and disarm a DSC Impassa from a phone.
However, a DSC Impassa System cannot readily work with Alarm.com unless it receives cellular monitoring. This will require that a compatible cellular communicator is installed in the system. The DSC Impassa must be running at least firmware version 1.3 to support the communicator. The user will also need an alarm monitoring plan that includes cellular service. For Alarm Grid, these are the Gold and Platinum level plans. Please check out our monitoring page for more information about our monitoring plans.
Cellular monitoring provides more benefits than just simply allowing a system to work with Alarm.com. Most security experts agree that cellular monitoring is the optimal communication path for an alarm system. This is because cellular monitoring is extremely reliable, and it offers fast communication speeds. Cellular service is almost never down, and the connection will continue to work in the event of a normal power outage. This makes it ideal for alarm systems.
Once the cellular communicator for a DSC Impassa System has been activated, the user will receive information on how to get started with Alarm.com. This will usually include an email with steps for creating an Alarm.com account. After creating their account, the user should then download the Alarm.com Mobile App to their Android or iOS device. The app can be downloaded for free from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store. The user will then log-in to their Alarm.com account to access their DSC Impassa System.
