Can I Change The Honeywell Vista 10P’s Prom Chip?
Unfortunately, no. Honeywell offers Prom Chips to upgrade the Vista 15P and Vista 20P control panels to an updated revision to be compatible with Total Connect 2.0. The Vista 10P control panel is not compatible with Total Connect 2.0 and not upgradable. The Vista 10P is also not compatible with graphic keypads like the 6280 or the VAM or Tuxedo Touch WiFi (which would be needed for home automation).
The Vista 10P control panel is ideal for small residential and commercial properties where controlling the alarm system remotely is not a requirement.
Total Connect 2.0 allows users to control a Honeywell alarm system (arming, disarming and checking the status), home automation (control door locks, thermostats and lighting) and video surveillance (view live video of property, children, pets) from any computer, smartphone or ios device. Users will receive notifications via email and or text messages, even video alerts in real time on any alarm signal or event like a child arriving home and disarming the system.
If Total Connect 2.0 is of interest, the Vista 10P control panel would need to be replaced by either the Vista 15P, Vista 20P or the Vista 21iP. Also, to connect to Total Connect 2.0, the Vista control panel would need an AlarmNet communicator; either the 7847i Internet Communicator (which the Vista 21iP has a built in 7847i) or a Honeywell GSM cell communication like the GSMV4G or the GSMX4G. Dual communication is also available and compatible with Total Connect 2.0 using the iGSMV4G. Communication via connection of a landline is not compatible.
The Vista 10P control panel has 6 on board hardwired zones with no option for hardwired expansion. The Vista 10P control panel does support 16 wireless expansion zones when paired with either a Honeywell 5800 series wireless receiver, Honeywell 5800TM module or a Honeywell RF keypad. The Vista 10P also has 8 independent keyfob zones which can be programmed without using any of the 16 expansion zones or any of the hardwired zones.
The Vista 10P supports up to 17 user codes and up to 8 alpha keypads.
The Vista 15P, Vista 20P and the Vista 21iP support both hardwired expansion zones and wireless expansion zones plus graphic keypads, VAM and the Tuxedo Touch WiFi (please refer to each to learn all the features each control panel supports).
