Can I Get an Alarm System w/ Bad Credit?
Yes, you can get an alarm system with bad credit. If a user buys equipment outright, then no credit history will be pulled. The only time credit history is checked is if equipment is financed. Whether or not a person is approved for financing is at the discretion of the financing company.
At Alarm Grid, customers purchase or finance all of their equipment, or they use equipment that they already own. That is how we are able to offer monitoring services with no contracts. But some customers do not want to spend hundreds of dollars upfront on security equipment. That is why we offer financing options through a third-party company. It is up to this third-party company to approve or deny any customer requests for equipment financing.
There are a few things to note about financing equipment. First, an individual with better credit may pay a lower interest rate than an individual with worse credit. Again, this is at the discretion of the financing company, as Alarm Grid does not decide the interest rates or make decisions on financing. And of course, it's possible that a person with poor credit may be denied financing altogether.
If a user has bad credit, then they can still apply for financing. There's no penalty for simply applying. And if they are denied for financing, there are still a couple of other options available to them. For one, they can purchase the equipment outright from Alarm Grid so that no credit history is pulled. They can also obtain their equipment from somewhere else. There are many places that sell non-proprietary security equipment, such as Amazon and eBay. Once a user has a system, Alarm Grid can provide alarm monitoring service, regardless of their credit history. So keep these options in mind if you have a low credit score.
