Can I Self-Monitor a Honeywell LYNX Plus L3000?
Yes, you can self-monitor a Honeywell LYNX Plus L3000. By adding an external communicator to the panel and signing up for a compatible self-monitoring plan, you can connect the system with the AlarmNet servers. This will make self-monitoring service possible for the Honeywell L3000.
Self-monitoring is when a security system is not connected with a central monitoring station, and the end user is directly notified about system events via text message and/or email. This type of monitoring is usually less expensive than central station monitoring, and it can be quite effective for users who are able to reliably respond to incoming texts and/or emails in a quick manner. However, it's important to note that self-monitored accounts will not qualify for a Certificate of Alarm (CoA) from Alarm Grid to receive a discount on one's homeowner's insurance premium.
If you have a Honeywell LYNX Plus L3000 System, then self-monitoring is possible by connecting the system with the AlarmNet servers so that it can be used with Total Connect 2.0. In order to connect the L3000 with AlarmNet, you must add a compatible AlarmNet Communicator. As of September 2020, the only AlarmNet Communicators that are readily available for use with the Honeywell L3000 are the Honeywell LTE-L3A AT&T LTE Communicator and the Honeywell LTE-L3V Verizon LTE Communicator. Both can be easily added to the system to facilitate self-monitoring.
As the LTE-L3A and the LTE-L3V are both cellular communicators, you will need a cellular monitoring plan to activate one of these modules. The Alarm Grid Self-Gold Plan is an ideal monitoring plan for this type of service. Our Self-Gold Plan includes access to Total Connect 2.0 for self-monitoring service. You will need to set up Total Connect 2.0 notifications in order for your self-monitoring service to work properly. This monitoring plan will also allow you to access Total Connect 2.0 through a web browser or mobile app on your phone to control your Honeywell L3000 System remotely. This means that you will be able to arm and disarm your L3000 from almost anywhere in the world!
