Can I Use Cellular Communication On a Honeywell L3000?

Yes, you can use cellular communication on a Honeywell L3000. There are two (2) LTE cellular communicators available for the L3000. These are the Honeywell LTE-L3A AT&T LTE Communicator and the Honeywell LTE-L3V Verizon LTE Communicator. Both allow for connectivity with AlarmNet360.

This was an extremely popular security system for many years, and many people still come across models to this day. Users looking for a simple, no-frills security system can still find the L3000 to be a viable option. We are often asked whether or not this panel can be used for cellular alarm monitoring. Fortunately, upgrading to cellular connectivity is very easy on an L3000 System.

If you are looking to get started with cellular communication on any system, then it is strongly recommended that you get an LTE cellular communicator. This is because older cellular networks like 3G and CDMA are in the process of being shut down. As a result, Resideo (formerly Honeywell) no longer allows activations for cellular communicators that use older cellular networks. As of January 2020, if you want to activate a cellular communicator for alarm monitoring service through AlarmNet360, then it must be an LTE communicator.

Due to the popularity of the L3000 System, Resideo released two (2) L3000 LTE Communicators. There is the Honeywell LTE-L3A and the Honeywell LTE-L3V. The LTE-L3A connects with the AT&T LTE Network, while the LTE-L3V connects with the Verizon LTE Network. These communicators can be added to any L3000 System. Once the communicator has been successfully installed, it can be activated for alarm monitoring service. Please note that Alarm Grid customers will need a Gold or Platinum Level Plan (Self or Full) or a Cellular-Only Monitoring Plan to use cellular communication.

However, it is important to note that you can only use Total Connect 2.0 with an L3000 System if the panel is running Firmware Version 20.0 or higher. An L3000 System that is running a lower firmware version can still use one of the aforementioned communicators to connect with the AlarmNet360 Servers for monitoring service. But the user will not be able to take advantage of the Total Connect 2.0 platform.
