Can I Use More than One Keypad On an Interlogix Simon XTi or XTi-5?
Yes, you can use more than one keypad on an Interlogix Simon XTi or XTi-5. Both of these systems can be synced with an Interlogix Two-Way Talking Touch Screen Keypad. This external keypad will provide a secondary point of access for the system. Up to four of these keypads can be used.
Typically, a user will operate their Simon XTi or XTi-5 System from the alarm panel itself. But if a user wants to control their system from a second location, they can do so using an Interlogix Two-Way Talking Touch Screen Keypad. This add-on will allow the user to arm and disarm their system, check the status of security sensors and conduct other basic functions. Just like the Simon XTi and XTi-5 Systems, the external keypad also provides spoken voice and chime functions so that users can be quickly alerted to various system events.
Many users choose to install a secondary keypad near their back door or near a garage door for easy access. This can be very convenient if multiple entry points throughout the home or business are commonly used. A single Simon XTi or XTi-5 System will support up to four of these keypad devices. This gives users the option of spreading these keypads all throughout their home or business. Using a secondary keypad also allows users to install the Simon XTi or XTi-5 away from points of entry. This helps to keep intruders from attempting to prevent an alarm report by destroying the main system.
Of course, the Interlogix Two-Way Talking Touch Screen Keypad is not the only way to obtain a secondary access point for a Simon XTi or XTi-5 system. A user can also control their system using the Alarm.com service. Alarm.com lets users arm and disarm their system, view the current status of sensors, operate programmed Z-Wave devices and view the live feed for any programmed security cameras. By using the Alarm.com Mobile App, these actions can be performed from virtually anywhere. However, the Simon XTi or XTi-5 will need to receive active cellular service in order for it to work with the Alarm.com service.
