Can I use the Honeywell L5200 without Total Connect?
Yes - you can use the Honeywell L5200 LYNX Touch wireless alarm system without Total Connect 2.0. Any Honeywell alarm system can be used locally meaning that when the alarm is triggered it will trip the siren(s) but will not send signals to a server or central station monitoring service. Often times, end users setup their system locally due to a lack of communications on site. For example, if there is no phone line or internet service you may think you have to run it locally. There are cellular security systems now that do not require a phone or internet service but they do rely on the AT&T cellular signal in the area. If the signal is poor there are ways to amplify the signal. However in some cases, you may just want to run the system locally and use loud sirens to scare away intruders and inform any neighboring parties that there has been a break in.
The L5200 is a super easy system to install and program. The flash upgradeability makes the L5200 a worth while investment for anyone looking for a new, quality alarm system that will not be outdated overnight. The system has a built-in 95dB siren and supports the Honeywell 5800WAVE wireless siren as well. If you are looking to really wake up the neighborhood then you may want to look at the LYNX-EXT (wireless) or the LYNX-WEXT (wired) external sounder kits. These kits come with all the components needed to integrate a wired siren. The kit includes everything except the siren itself.
