Can I Use the Lyric Gateway with a Honeywell VISTA Wired Security System?
The Lyric Gateway cannot be used with a Honeywell VISTA Wired Security System. The Lyric Gateway and VISTA systems are both standalone systems that cannot be linked.
The Lyric Gateway is the next all in one wireless panel released from the Lyric line. The Gateway is a standalone alarm and home security system and cannot be paired with any other Honeywell alarm system. The system is manufactured with a built in WIFI communicator and integrated Ethernet jack. The top of the system opens where a Verizon or AT&T cellular communicator can be installed. A user would want to select the cellular communicator that corresponds to the strongest service coverage in their area, as the features supported on either unit is the same. The Gateway can use any of the three available communication paths as its sole method of communication. A user also has the option for Dual Path communication. With this enabled, if the Primary communication path (Ethernet or WIFI) fails, the system will automatically switch to the Secondary communication path (Cellular).
The Honeywell VISTA alarm wired panels are a very popular line of security systems which have been in the market for many years. The VISTA panels come in many different models for many different applications. A small house can be totally protected with a VISTA 21ip whereas a business could use a Vista-250BPT to provide security, and in some cases CCTV, and access control. VISTA control panels can communicate over Ethernet or Cellular. Just like the Lyric Gateway, VISTA panels can be configured to use Dual Path communication. VISTA-20P and Vista-21IP panels have terminals on the main board which can support 8 hardwired zones. A user can add additional hardwired zones with the 4219 each of which supports another 8 hardwired zones. VISTA panels are fully compatible with all wireless 5800 series devices. A user will need a 6160RF keypad, 6150RF, or a 5800 series receiver to integrate 5800 series wireless devices.
