Can I Use the Qolsys IQ Siren with a Honeywell System?
Yes, you can use the Qolsys IQ Siren with a Honeywell System. To do this, your panel will need a Z-Wave controller. Since the IQ Siren is seen by a Honeywell System as a light switch, you must create scenes to have it activate during alarm events and to turn off when an alarm is cleared.
The Qolsys IQ Siren is a Z-Wave siren that is easy to use with almost any Z-Wave-compatible alarm system. It produces sounds of up to 105 dB and displays a strobe light to provide a visual indication of an alarm. The siren should remain plugged-in at all times, but it does have a backup battery in case the electricity goes out. The device is suitable for indoor use only.
The siren enrolls with an alarm system much like any other Z-Wave device. Before learning in the siren, you should clear it from the network first. This still ensure that its memory is cleared and that it can successfully enroll with the panel. You can clear the device and include it with the Z-Wave network directly from your Honeywell Alarm Control Panel. We strongly recommend giving the siren a name you will remember, such as "Siren".
The actual process for enrolling the IQ Siren is very simple. First you will clear it from the network. Put your panel into its Z-Wave exclusion mode, and plug the siren into a wall outlet. The press the button on the top of the IQ Siren to transmit a signal to the panel. If the siren is within range, the panel will recognize it and clear it from the network.
After you have cleared the device from the network, you should then attempt to include it. Put your panel into its Z-Wave inclusion mode, and press the button on the top of the IQ Siren. This will transmit a signal to the alarm panel to learn it in. You should then use this opportunity to name the device. Honeywell Systems view this device as a Z-Wave light switch, so you won't want to mix it up with your other lights later.
Since the device is recognized as a Z-Wave light switch, you will need to create special smart scenes to have it operate as a siren. If you have access to Total Connect 2.0, it is recommended that you do this from that platform using a web browser or the Total Connect 2.0 Mobile App. For full operation, most users will create three scenes.
The first scene you will create is to have the IQ Siren turn on during a burglary alarm. The second scene you will create is to have the IQ Siren turn on during a fire alarm. The third and final scene you will create is to have the IQ Siren turn off when the panel is disarmed. If you named the siren earlier, you should be able to easily find it in your device list. Remember, the siren will be listed as a switch.

Note: The IQ Siren will not produce a Temporal 3 sound for fire alarms or a Temporal 4 sound for CO alarms. It produces the same constant alarm tone regardless of the alarm type that has occurred.
