Can WIFI Be Primary & GSM Backup On A Lyric Controller?
Yes, the Lyric Security System comes with a built in WiFi module. Users have the option to install a Lyric 3G, gsm cellular communicator.
WiFi is the first path of communication and any reason the internet connection is lost, the Lyric 3G gsm cell communicator will kick in and continue to communicate with the central station and or Total Connect 2.0.
It is recommended for users to use a backup battery for the router and modem in case of power outages, the WiFi communicator can continue to transmit signals. If the internet goes down not due to a power outage, signals will not be able to be transmitted. This is when the Lyric 3G will take over and transmit the signal.
The Lyric 3G installs easily into the Lyric Controller panel. Remove the side cover, insert the gsm and secure with the provided screw. Replace the cover.
The MAC ID and the CRC numbers off the communicators are required to register and activate both the WiFi and the Lyric 3G. Only authorized Honeywell AlarmNet dealers can register and activate both the WiFi module and the Lyric 3G cellular communicator which is done during monitoring activation.
Activating the WiFi module and or Lyric 3G cellular communicator allows users to connect to Total Connect 2.0. Total Connect 2.0 allows users to control the alarm system, home automation and video surveillance from any computer, smartphone and ios device. Users will receive notifications on any alarm signal and event via email and or text message.
The Lyric Controller Security System also comes with a built in Zwave module. The Lyric Controller supports up to 72 Zwave devices, including up to 6 thermostats and up to 6 door locks.
