Do I Have To Use A WAP To Connect An IPCAM To a L5100?

The WAP is not compatible with the Honeywell Lynx Touch L5100 Control Panel. Unlike the Lynx Touch L5200 and L7000, cameras cannot be viewed directly from the Lynx Touch L5100. But users can still integrate legacy Honeywell IP Cameras with the Lynx Touch L5100 through Total Connect 2.0.

The Honeywell IP cameras are installed and connected to the users modem and internet connection and viewed through a personal Total Connect 2.0 account. Legacy Honeywell IP Cameras must be activated by an alarm monitoring company. You will need to provide the MAC address to activate the camera.

Total Connect 2.0 allows users to control an alarm system (arming, disarming and check the status), home automation (control door locks, thermostats, and light switches) and video surveillance from any computer, smartphone and ios device. Users will receive notifications via email and or text message on any real time alarm signal or event . Users will be able to view live video on up to six (6) cameras at a time. A great way to keep an eye on pets, the elderly,children and property and stay connected to home.

The compatible Honeywell IP cameras are legacy models, including the IPCAM-W12, IPCAM-WO and the IPCAM-WL. Users need to have an AlarmNet communicator to connect to Total Connect 2.0. The ILP5 Internet Communicator or the L5100WiFi module. (GSMVLP5-4G cell communicator is the compatible gsm for the Lynx Touch L5100 that can also be used to connect to Total Connect 2.0).

Note: The Total Connect 2.0 Legacy IP Cameras can only be used if they were online at the time when Resideo pushed down an OTA update to make them compatible with an updated TC2 platform. Any legacy camera that was not online to receive this update can no longer be used. You must be very careful when purchasing used legacy TC2 IP Cameras, as many people will try to pass off bricked models on unsuspecting buyers. Please read this FAQ for more information.
