Does the 5828 Have Volume Control?

Yes, the 5828 has volume control. However, it is very limited. You can only increase and decrease the chime volume. However, the voice version of the Honeywell 5828 Keypad, the Honeywell 5828V has more robust volume capabilities. The voice keypad can have its volume muted entirely.

The Honeywell 5828 is a wireless Fixed English keypad designed for use with a Honeywell LYNX Touch or a Honeywell VISTA Panel. It is not capable of being used as a primary controller for programming a system. However, it makes a great secondary controller for having another on-site access point. You can use the keypad to arm and disarm the system, check system status, and hear chimes.

Some users might want to increase or decrease the volume for their Honeywell 5828 Keypad. This will affect the volume for when keys are pressed and when chimes are activated. This is possible on the standard model. But only the voice model, the Honeywell 5828V can be muted entirely. There is no way to completely mute a standard 5828.

If you want to increase or decrease the volume, complete the following steps:

1. Activate the keypad. If the keypad isn't already active, press and hold the [1] and [3] keys simultaneously for five seconds. The LED should illuminate, and the keypad will produce a tone.

2. Increase or decrease volume. To increase the volume, enter [#] + [2] + [3]. To decrease the volume enter [#] + [2] + [6]. This will increase or decrease the volume by one level. A tone will help you determine the set volume. Please note that the keypad will not go any lower or higher in volume if it is already at the lowest or highest volume setting.

3. Adjust to your liking. Each time you enter [#] + [2] + [3] or [#] + [2] + [6], you are only changing the volume by one level. You must keep entering in the three-digit volume increase or decrease code until it reaches the level you want. After that, no further action is needed at the keypad.
