Does the Lyric Alarm System Have Partitions?
No, the Lyric Alarm System does not have partitions. You cannot use partitions with this system, as it does not support this feature. If you want to use partitioning, you will need to choose a different system. Some of the best options are the Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus or the 2GIG GC3e.
Partitioning is the ability to "section-off" an alarm system. The different sections are referred to as partitions. You can arm and disarm each partition individually. For instance, if you disarm one partition while the rest of the system is armed, then only the zones associated with that partition will become unsecured. Activating any of the zones for the other armed partitions will still result in an armed system response based on the zone's programmed Response Type. You will need to assign each programmed zone to a specific partition.
Each partition can be assigned a different set of user codes. This allows you to restrict access for different users. For example, you might want some of the users to be able to access one part of the building, but not the other. You might give them a code that only works with one partition, but not the others. By using that code, a user can arm and disarm that partition as needed. But they will not be able to arm or disarm the other partitions. This makes partitioning perfect for offices, shared living spaces, and multi-family homes.
Unfortunately, the Resideo Lyric Alarm System does not support partitioning in any fashion. You can still manually bypass individual zones so that the system sort of behaves like a partitioned system. But there is no real way to do this systematically. If you want to use partitioning, then you will need to chose a system that supports this feature. Fortunately, there are other wireless alarm systems like the Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus and the 2GIG GC3e that do support partitioning. Remember, partitioning is a system feature, and it does not result in any increased costs for monitoring service. More information can be found here.
