Has the Honeywell L5200 Been Discontinued?
The discontinued L5200 has been replaced with the L5210. There are few differences between the panels and they are functionally the same. The L5210 has a slightly smaller screen, is less expensive than the L5200 and has a redesigned case to be more in line with the L7000 case styling.
The L5200 is part of the LYNX Touch all in one wireless line of alarm systems released by Honeywell. The system has multiple options of communication. Built onto the board is a terminal block that supports an analog POTS phone line connection. This does not support VOIP services. An iLP5 Ethernet Communicator can be installed which gives the system an Ethernet jack which can be used to hardwire an Ethernet connection. The L5100-WIFI is a WIFI module that provides a 2.4GHz WIFI connection. The 3GL can be installed which lets the system connect to the AT&T cellular network. The major difference between the L5200 and L5210 is that the L5200 isn’t compatible with the CDMA-L57 Cellular Communicator. This device connects a system to the Verizon cellular network. The L5210 is compatible with this device as long as the panel has a revision version of 8 or higher.
Both the L5200 and L5210 support dual path monitoring. With this feature, the system will use the WIFI as the primary path of communication. In the event that this path goes down, the system will automatically switch to Cellular for all of its communications. Any of the available communication paths can be used as the systems sole method of communication. The ILP5 uses the same port on the board as the cellular modules so dual path can only be achieved with the WIFI module.
As far as functionality goes, both of the systems are identical. They support the same wireless equipment, user codes, Z-Wave devices and the same amount of zones.
